'May the Road see you safe, and may the pouches and purses of the Folk you meet Gift you with their abundance.'
"Ah ha, and you too, Sir! Glad the Gods blessed me with passersby such as yourself. But ye'd better hurry, if you tarry here now, you'll not make Silver Dagger before the gates're closed."
Eribor waves goodbye and he, his servant, and their bodyguard slowly move up the road and away from you.
Taking heed of his words, you rush along the road, passing a broken wagon wheel about 100' down the road.
You move down the road for about 8 more hours, then see some telltale signs of habitation at the top of the next hill. A large, low, building stands to the right of the road, while a long palisade crosses the road, ending in a guard tower on the far wall. The ground is rough and rocky to preclude wagons from simply going around this way station. You see a few men standing on the hoardings beyond the wall, and one waves at your group as you near the Inn.
"Hoy, travellers! Welcome to the Silver Dagger Inn and Toll House! The fee for crossing the threshold is 1 silver per head, and the door fee for the Inn is another silver. You will not be allowed to bring your weapons within the Inn, and if you are known to one of the Road Wardens within as a brigand, you will be apprehended, though if you do not enter the building, you are free to continue with our leave...for now, of course."
"It seems your group will pay 6 silver or 12, and if you choose the hospitality of the Inn, your wolf must remain outside well staked, away from the stables, unless it is full tame."
The guard seems rather bored, as if he says something like that about sixty times a day. Which of course he does.
You note that around the guard house there are a few small huts and merchant stalls, selling food, wagon parts, and junk parts scavenged from along the road.
