Centaur works well unless the character really needs natural reach. Grabbing your Large* lance with both hands, charging your target and judiciously 2 for 1 power attacking will surpass the damage of the minotaur's horned charge.

*as a large creature the rules let you wield large weapons.

Yeah. Centaur is another good large melee brute monster race.

But regarding charge, I don't like to rely much on that tactics. In actual game play, especially in dungeon environment, it is rather hard to establish a clear charging path and enough distance to charge. It is not easy even for a medium-sized creatures with reach 1. So it will be really hard for a large creature with a reach weapon.
