Effect of Miasma (MotW)

The author of the spell has been quoted as saying the spell should be "Fort negates." However, there is currently no official erratum to the spell.

i think a good modification might be a new Fort save each round to negate - there are other spells like that.

I like that idea, kind of makes it a more powerful daze spell. Basically you can defend yourself, but can't take any actions yourself, and it lasts until you make the fort save. That kind of power I could see from a 4th level spell.

I believe the correct way to run this spell is:
If the subject doesn't hold their breath then they can do nothing but cough and spit.

If the subject holds their breath (and who wouldn't after the first round) then they can continue to fight, but without speaking, until their breath gives out and they need to make Con checks.

Makes for a good hit and run spell and good against spell casters. But if you use it in the heat of battle you still need to put the hurt on the guy.

Otto's Irresistable Dance takes the target out of action for only 1d4+1 rounds, and it's an 8th-level spell.

But druid's are just supposed to be more bad ass than wizards, we all know that:D

In seriousneess, OID has no save and makes reflex saves impossible and lowers your AC.

I think if Miasma was similar to daze, had a save every round to stop, and then maybe drop its duration to 1 round/level, I could see it as a 4th level spell.

Poly-other: fish. 4th level. If you fail the save, you are drowning in air, and there is little your friends can do about it. To top it off, you can't do anything during that time and your con is probably lower. Miasma is not broken, spells in general are.
