Eldritch Blade (Fighter/Warlock Hybrid)

And making a claim then expecting the other person to prove it isn't a one way street?

It's your idea not mine. I'm engaging you in the thread and explained why I felt it was a waste of time to grace your request. Sometimes it takes the other party to show me why it won't be a waste of time

You know what's a waste of time? Humouring someone unwilling to provide any evidence for their point.
You make a statement, either back it up with evidence or expect it to be ignored henceforth.

The idea of the class is mine.
The idea of it being "obviously" overpowered is yours.

That being said, I did the first 6 levels of a Fighter 1/Warlock X vs a Eldritch Blade X anyway, because it's useful information.
Assuming both went for Fiendish Vigor as an invocation, and that both took the Duelling fighting style:

As you may be able to discern, the Fighter 1/Warlock X has more effective HP, for the price of delaying a boost to attacking. Level 6 is actually wrong, as the Fighter/Warlock gets 3rd level spells, and thus Hex lasts longer than 1 combat. As both classes progress, the Eldritch Blade should take over in effective HP and melee damage output, while the Fighter/Warlock will gain more high level spells and quicker.

It gets to choose a Patron and a Martial Archetype, yes. Not sure how I want to alter the EK, if at all. Might just leave it be.

Allowing a single classed character to get Eldritch Knight spellcasting on top of Warlock half-casting sounds like a tremendously bad idea.

It doesn't increase your spell levels though, it just gives you more low-level utility spells. Honestly I'm more concerned about the other features the EK gets. Except for the complexity. But then the entire concept has an inherent complexity threshold.

I'm quite enjoying looking through these hybrid classes you're putting together. I'd been considering something similar to Castles and Crusades multiclassing for 5e so it's interesting to see someone else's take on hybrid classes.

Your comparison is bad because you failed to include fighter subclasses for any of the comparisons. You also failed to allow fiend pack temp hp to contribute to the eldritch blade's effective hp at level 1.

You want better, go do it yourself.
Dark One's Blessing is unimportant as both gain roughly the same amount beyond level 1.
For argument's sake the EB went EK, because it's better down the line. The numbers remain unchanged.

You don't think it's important to consider number of spells the character gets or to leave 1 characters level 1 ability completely off. Shows bias Yunru. I'm disappointed. All the abilities you left off in the comparison are abilities you chose to give the eldritch blade but now feel are unimportant for the sake of balance comparisons. Maybe if they are balanced without those abilities then you should consider dropping those abilities. Obviously if you have 2 balanced characters which I think was the point of your post then adding in more abilities is going to start to skew the balance.

No, I really don't. Especially for an optimized martial character that's only going to be running Hex. As for level 1 ability: As I said, beyond first level both characters get it with only a single point difference between them. And given the first level is the quickest you will see...

That said: Go away. You've done literally nothing to contribute, and everything to just moan and whine. None of your critiscism has been constructive, and when pressed for details you fail to give any.

Keep posting if you want, I'm no longer reading it.
