If I'm reading this correctly the warlocks eldritch scythe could be used with maneuvers.

Agreed. We all have one of those players. My player swore up and down I was wrong until I highlighted the text, then whined that his character build was ruined.The confusion came with the opening line of
"Once per turn when you would make a melee weapon attack as part of the Attack action or an opportunity attack, you can instead make a melee spell attack, lashing out with an ephemeral and unearthly blade."
It's close enough to go either way with interpretation, and we all have one of those players.
