Elf Cleric/Ranger

Just a thought-

If you were, say, a cleric of Melora (fits for elves), and say the bow could be the holy symbol of Melora (why not - we don't know that much about her really) then couldn't you play a straight wis cleric and 'channel' you powers through the bow? The only difference would be you don't use an arrow.

Whenever you use a ranged cleric power, you 'shoot' it from the bow. Even healing word could be an effect from the bow - a bright bolt that invigorated who it hit.

Then you mc ranger (if you wanted to) to pick up some further bow powers. Or, hell, mc invoker or druid and pick up other ranged powers you can shoot through your bow.

As you probably wont be using the bow for actual ranged attacks much, a high starting dex is good (16 I'd say, then u get equivalent AC to chain with hide), but you don't have to keep boosting it.

You could start off with 8, 13, 16, 10, 18, 14

Could be fun :)

No I havn't considered the Avenger (the thread is from June 2008 there was no Avenger around back then). And no, the character isn't retired either... currently 9th level and we'll probably play those 1st to 30th.

The Elven Cleric works very good, but the bow is basically not useful (with a Symbol of Divine Reach the range is good enough, really, so I refrained from using further Multiclass Feats except for Warrior of the Wild and some experimentation). Picked up some feats from the PHB2, though, the Expertise-must-have, of course, and the one that allows Basic Melee Attacks with WIS (we still had a Magic Staff +2 lying around, so why not use it; sometimes you cannot Shift away, then instead of suffering an OA a BMA with decent stats is a good alternative and eventually I can also get one of those weapons from AV that support healing).

Bye
Thanee
