Weapon Familiarity

In my game, this feat doesn't exist. It is unnecessary, as every race gets some weapon familiarity.

It doesn't make any sense that only Dwarves, Gnomes and Orcs have weapon familiarity. What's the point of an "elven" thinblade if elves can't use it without a special feat? How is it not just a "thinblade"?

I'm of the opinion that elves, halflings and humans aren't listed as having weapon familiarity because they don't have any PHB (or any OGC material) weapons with their racial name on them, so... they didn't want to include refferences to their own product identity material (as that would mean they'd be violating their own OGL agreement.)

The logical thing would have been to make some more racial weapons core. Elven thinblade and shortblade, halfling skiprocks and warsling. Or just say that "weapons with the name of the race in it fall under the weapon familiarity rule". They would not have to mention any of these weapons that way.
