What the hell?...
Maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine, but does anyone else notice how often something that's remotely humanoid is compared to "like an elf," in the MM2?
It started with the Abeil ("a cross between an elf and a bee," despite being markedly taller...and insectoid...and hairy...and striped....yeah, elves are those?), and continues up through the Ocean Strider ("...between an elf and a killer whale." Right. 20-ft. tall elves...).
What the heck?
Okay, the Ocean Strider I can kinda see (elves are fey-ish, and this is a fey, so there could be some kind of connection), but yeesh...
I blame the elvish affirmation league, personally. Those little buggers have been trying to gain ground ever since Corellon had eyeshadow in Deities and Demigods.
It's probably better than I'm making it out to be, but why's it gotta be elf? Can't it just be "human?"

Oh, and I did like most/all of the MM2. Haven't gone into a lot of detail, I just remember the elf thing stood out at me.
