As you might guess from my .sig, I'm quite elf-friendly. 
Having said that, dwarves make a nice change of pace from time to time.

I dunno about dwarven farting , but belching... yup!
Now... If only WotC could draw cool dwarves for covers consistently. Those dwarves on the cover for the FR accessory Dwarves Deep... that's what I'm talking about.

I would naturally tend to prefer elves, but I've never liked their foppishness and arrogance. And even less their fanclub. So, I've more sympathy for the dwarves.
But really, it's the gnomes I like. Short, but lean. Grumpy, but with a sense of humor. A good balance between law and chaos. Have a knack for spellcasting, for alchemy, for handling animals, and for gathering knowledge. But humble and unassuming.
However, I hate tinker gnomes. They're stupid. As much as a FR elf-lover would hate to see all elves in the Forgotten Realms depicted as keebler elves.

Me, I like elves. But not D&D elves. I prefer the elves of myth, the dark and sinister changelings - alien and utterly incomprehensable to humankind. Now that's cool!

Sure we see all the elf hate. Mainly because they have become so mainstream and are considered too perfect, that they have created a grunge counter coulter. Question is, when will the dwarves get too popular that people will regard dwarf fans as rabid and fan boyish. Rabid and hairy... ew.
