Elves versus Gnomes!

"And Bards have healing because they're more 'designed' to help out others, it seems, than do direct damage..."

I'll accept that they don't do DD and need something more, but I don't think healing is a good solution. It REALLY blurs the lines between types of magic too much. I gave them more of the Protection from XXX type of spells to compensate, and a couple more charm-type spells (the Hypnotic stuff). Nothing big, they already have a NICE spell list, a great skill list, and if I'm giving them INT as a prime stat that gets even better.

Also, I've been toying with a Feat that allows a "hybrid" class (Bard, Psychic Warrior, Ranger, Paladin) to gain spells from the list of their parent class (Sorcerer, Psion, Druid, or Cleric respectively). You add a few (3 to 5) spells to your class list (NOT your personal Known list, you still have to take them) at one level higher than listed. That is, a Bard could take Fireball as a level 4 spell, a Psychic Warrior could take Body Adjustment as a level 3 or Teleport as a 6, and so on. Since you still have to use your Known slots to get them, it isn't really unbalanced to give a few. For Rangers and Paladins they'd get them automatically, but those classes only go up to spell level 4, so I'm not worried.

"We at Abbott use Adulent and HP"

I'm sorry. :)

Lucky for you I'm not marketing. I'm in research and development. I just design the damn things, and argue with the software guys where the controls should go.

Oh... Adulent is HP. HP spun off it's 'non-core' businesses in one of the stupidest business moves I've seen in a while. Some sort of personality conflict between the people who were in charge and the people who actually did anything constructive. They names the company Adulent for no apparent reason, and now there's a company that does bulk semiconducters and LEDs, as well as liquid chromatograpy and another set of incoherent business units.

Errr, that's way tangental (technically, it's tangent to a tangent), sorry, everyone.

Let's try this: "Humans have no "traditional" alignment"

I'd say they do. Humans, in general, are lawful neutral. It's only occasional weirdos like me that end up at Chaotic Good. :) (or as one friend said, Chaotic Incoherent)

What I mean by "traditional" for Humans is that for every Lawful Good society out there, you're just as likely to find a Lawful Evil. Then there's the Chaotic barbarian tribes, the True Neutral treehuggers, and so on.

So for Dwarves, if they tend to Lawful Good, it's somewhat rare to see a Chaotic Evil one, and he'd stand out in most Dwarven cities. For Humans, one alignment is just as likely as the other overall, they just tend to clump together. What's rare in one city might be common in the others, but in the largest cities you'll find a little of everything. In general I'd associate Lawful types with city dwellers and Chaotic with the hillbillies and such.

Adulent being HP....

Thought there was some connection but that makes some things make more sense. As a molecular geneticist I pretty much Just use chromatography as a tool.

Arguing with software guys is preferable to arguing with marketing....

Marketing: "why dont we say this about x"

Me: "because it is untrue and makes no sense scientifically"

Marketing: "and..."

Just kidding to all the marketing people out there.

From the transcripts from the nerds in Research :D

I think, Lawful Elven Psionics fit.
Now, they just need green blood and must take the Stunning Feast feat (or a similar power), and, voilá, there goes your Vulcan Scientist Officer. :)

PS: In a Dragonstar/SpaceGothic Campaign, we had a Lawful Neutral Elven Cleric of the Reaper. One of his Domains was "Death". He once said: "I wonder if I have green blood - I mean, I have pointy ears and a Death Grip Ability" (well, he didn`t say this in English, but in German, something like this..: "Manchmal frage ich mich, ob ich nicht grünes BLut habe - Ich meine, ich habe spitze Ohren und den Todegriff")
