Pathfinder 1E Emerald Spire Superdungeon - player's perspective

I'm enjoying it. I missed dungeon crawling.

So far we've only had two sessions, and we've gotten through levels 1 and 2. We just lost a PC last night because of an enemy who auto-deathknells anyone it reduces to 0 hp. That seemed rather harsh. We started discussing how to get enough money to have him brought back from the dead, until it was pointed out that death knell is a death effect, so that ain't happening.

Which is AWESOME. So effin' metal that a villain cuts you down and steals your soul. I mean, it sucked for the player, but I figure you need a couple deaths in a superdungeon or else it won't feel properly dangerous.

There's been some fun emergent gameplay, and I look forward to what the other designers have planned. That said, I don't normally play Pathfinder, and so my only complaints are on the character building side. (Seriously, combat feats are fiddly.)

Anyone else playing?

It looks interesting. There is a great thread on RPG net that had all kinds of information on the history and how things fit together in it. Obviously, it contains huge amounts of spoilers but it was fantastically researched. It connected in other things in the Pathfinder setting. I think I'll pick this up at some point but when I saw the price for the maps that go with it I felt it was really expensive.

I get that. The map packs for the AP's have been great and very useful. I buy the map packs for all the APs I have even the ones I probably don't run. The map pack for this though is twice as much as the module.

We are playing it online via rol20 and have just completed the first level. We were fortunate that most of us have darkvision or things would have been virtually impossible. Our one lone non darkvision elf wizard basically did nothing the entire session.
