Empower a Summon

Quick question, if you Empower a Summon Monster spell as per the summon monster spell, and choose the 1d4+1 monsters off the 2 lvls lower list option, how does it work out?

Is it (1d4+1) x 1.5
(1d4 x 1.5) +1
or none, as you cant empower it that way.

And dont forget, always round down.
