EN Publishing $1 GM's Day Sale

I know it might be a bit of a hassle, but it is probably less of a hassle than what you are experiencing, to simply keep a separate window open to RPGNow.com while you are downloading and occasionally click a link or two in the new window while your download is happening in the original window. What this should do is keep the system realizing your account is active, since I believe that when you have not been active while signed in for a time (despite the downloading activity), the system deems you inactive and signs you out, effectively. Give it a try and let us know if that works. Remember, though, that I am only a vendor at RPGNow.com, not an employee, so my advice comes as someone who would also be in the same boat as you, as a customer, if I was in your situation.

I'll give it a shot but to be honest, I strongly doubt it will work. I have logged on rpgnow, clicked a download link, got the same request to log on again, then tried to download and got the same error message. :(

rpgnow customer service

So, the only people who can help you out are RPGNow - I've emailed RPGNow customer service on your behalf, so hopefully they'll respond soon.

Thanks. I eagerly await their reply.

I had a similiar problem when I tried to download a purchase (though this was driectly from the RPG Now site, not the EN World afflicate site and I can't remember if it was an En Publishing product or not) - the window informed me that I needed to log in, so I clicked the log in link, which strangely took me to dtrpg. I logged in there and then went back to the RPG Now download page and everything worked fine after that. Weird.

OBS is riddled with bugs, so this doesn't come as any surprise. The real shame is the impact it has on first time PDF buyers, who may well not come back for a second bite.

Let me try to be more clear...

Our card processing is handled by one of the largest processors in the country. First Data. It's front end is Authorize.net that we use. One of those two are obviously having a problem with the your address or the way it's being submitted - that's what AVS means. It means it couldn't verify with your bank that your address matched. Now, there are other ways that can happen... if your bank verification system is down or if your bank doesn't submit such data (bank debit cards and overseas cards have this problem at times) then it can't verify the data and it fails out. Nothing that RPGNow can do about that. It just happens and regreftully many times the other bank approved the transaction but since Authorize.net couldn't do the AVS check, it rejected it. That leaves the transaction in sort of a limbo for a few days till it expires cause (in my experience) most banks don't process the reject notice that Authorize.net would have sent to your bank.

Anyway, if our normal CC processing fails, you do have one other option. Use PAYPAL. You can pay with paypal using a credit card WITHOUT ever signing up for a paypal account. Just click the visa/mc icon in the corner when taken to paypal checkout. Paypal.com tends to be a bit more forgiving about the transaction (regretfully that means more fraud for us to deal with though)... So you should still be able to use the card there if you're not over your limit or something.

Lastely you could create a new paypal.com account and transfer money there from your bank account... but that's probably something no one without an account now really wants to do.

Again, we're sorry for the payment and thus order issues, but it really isn't our fault or in our ability to override it for anyone. It's the internet and it's fraud protection and the systems we use.

No if your payment DOESN'T come off, of course contact us and we'll work it through with you and issue a refund if that's what's needed. But I highly doubt that... this has been an ongoing issue for years.

No AVS

Fair enough.

Where do I go from here with my situation since I have not received such an error. Does it involve FirstData as well? I have no interest in Paypal for the very reason you mentioned: I want safety in my transactions.

If the issue involves FirstData, how long is "a few days" before I either call my CC company or submit a refund requests with drivethru/rpgnow? :(

UPDATE: Downloads are working now. Thanks! :D
When's the next special's day?

Hmm...there's been a lot of activity in this thread, but no one has yet answered *my* question: Will I actually be able to get the PDFs I tried to purchase, or was my order summarily canceled due to the AVS error?

I'm pretty sure James covered that, above - the AVS error means the purchase was not made, and will disappear from any cc statements; and, unfortunately, RPGNow has no ability to control the AVS issue. James did suggest alternative methods of purchase above, although I understand if people do not wish to use them.

I wish there was something else I could do.
