EN World 10 Year Anniversary Competition & Community Supporter Account Sale!

I've got a couple

Some variations on a theme. It's all built in layers so transparency, backgrounds, outlines around the letters, positioning of elements, text, etc. can all be readily changed.

Here's the font that matches the current logo - one with a border and one placed over the current site header bar. I think I prefer this one to Morpheus, but YMMV.

This one is using Morpheus, which I've seen on some of the ENWorld logos, but not the main site graphic. Again, one with a border, and one over the site background.

I wasn't sure where the winning logo would go on the website so I just made the background on mine black. But it can easily be adjusted. I can also help adjust the winning logo to fit with a proper background if needed...since few people made transparent backgrounds.

Say "No" to Spec work!
NO!SPEC
The link explains what it is and reasons why.

To the EN World people,
Reward (pay) everyone entering this. Having people do work for free is wrong. I know the gaming industry is 'poor' compared to the rest of the world and it's standards of pay are not the same. Gamers do this for the love of it. Reward them with something. Even a small something is better than nothing. (A tshirt, sticker, custom user name/avatar badge, free dice, etc...)

There are some good entries here. Good job to all who entered.

I'm sorry Matt, but I must disagree. Those who have posted entries here have done so not as a way of seeking income, but rather out of the sense of community we feel here. I don't believe there are any wide-eyed innocents being taken advantage of. :)

I visited the site you linked to, and while there is worthwhile information there, I must disagree with the concept that participating in fun activities like this shows that an artist doesn't "put the appropriate value on their profession."

I most certainly do understand how much my design time is worth, since it's how I pay my mortgage! A t-shirt as compensation? Really? If I were thinking in terms of compensation that might cover the time setting up the pixel dimensions of the design and choosing a font! We do this for fun. No one is missing out on 'real' work because EN World sponsors an entertaining one-off like this.

Well, it's time for me to pick a winner!

Right. I love them all! And I love that there are some very different approaches here. Thanks so much to those who got involved; I hope this has been as much fun for you as it has been for me!

Of all the entries, I think that my favourite is weem's initial entry:

I love the boldness of it, and the playfuless of it. And so, without further ado, I proclaim weem to be Grand Poobah of EN World Logo Design 2009! He also wins a 3-year community supporter account.

Again, thank you so much to everyone who entered. I love fun little things like this, and the sense of community it exemplifies. As thanks for your participation, everyone who entered will get a one-year community supporter account.

But I guess you need to integrate it a little better in the site design.

Congratuations to weem. (Too bad there can be only one winner, because I think all of the contributations were strong. ;) )

I'm guessing you just saw my attempt?

Yeah, we have a custom header setup which I'm trying to understand. This is going to be tricky.
Yes I did, just for the time between opening the thread, writing an answer, and clicking submit. Then it was gone and I felt kinda stupid, but also too lazy to add something. ;)

And now I see attempt II. Better. It might need some rounding at the edges or so maybe?
