But would you get a bad rating? I mean, if you do not like what you are reading, why do you keep coming back?

Natural selection would have weeded out those that do not like EN World.

I suspect that the folks who don't like it here and get a bad vibe (and if you hang around anywhere else, you'll know that there are some) are unlikely to still be here and thus respond to the poll. So you get very artificially skewed results.

I'll tell you, a VERY interesting result might be attained from a similar poll over at Nutkinland. That community is made up of a conglomeration of ENWorlders, former ENWorlders who didn't like ENWorld that much, and a lot of foul-mouthed people. (That guy who posts over there as Captain Kirk's Evil Twin is a real son of a *****, let me tell you!)

Tom, maybe you should post over there and see what the results will be? :)

As for Reporting a Post...also true, but it seems to me, IME, IMO, that off-topic or humorous posts have more chance of attracting moderator-intervention than simple nastiness.

There's a good reason for that - an off-topic post is noticed immediately from it's subject line. A nasty comment might be buried 3 pages into a thread, and thus not get noticed unless someone reports it. Trust me when I say that nastiness etc. is far higher in our list of stuff we don't want here than off-topic posts are. :)

I like this forum because it is a lot more civil than most forums, but I don't like the fact that I can't always say what I want because I'd be offending someone or some such crap like that. But besides that, this is my favorite messageboard and it will probably stay that way. Although the "Our bodies" forum at health.com is becoming increasingly more entertaining. "My penis is too small", "My penis is too big", "I can't find my penis", "Is there supposed to be hair on my body in the shape of crop circles?", "Is it good or bad to have three+ testikles?"

N stuff.

Where can we report that so u can find it as fast as possible? Meta? Cause Joker is being nasty.

Um...

Hand of Evil & Joshua Dyal: Skewed results...true...what interests me, in that case, is why the people who chose some of the most unsavory (superlative negative!) choices are still here...? It's a paradox...

Henry: Square-on. I did venture there once, drawn in by an oddly appealing animated .jpeg of a squirrel with razor-sharp fangs. I wasn't impressed, although I will add that whatever The Pantheon might be in Nutkinland, it is kind of fun when they mount Pirate Raids onto the EN Boards.

In general I much prefer the EN Boards to other message boards and read here often.

Morrus: I'd rather start a discussion about tone instead of reporting people.

Joker: If I report Tom Cashel to you, will you report him to a Moderator, please?

I was really hoping some folks would vote for Option 12, and 5 (so far) have come through in the clutch. :D

Yes, because I think this is a stupid, pretentious, venomous poll.

Although I don't know why it's venomous, or pretentious or stupid.

Euh...I think I'll go before someone smites me. Again :D.

I picked other...

For the most part the first choice is best...

But I often find that some posters get alittle obnoxious when it comes to discussing rules related issues...especially in the reviews section...some people absolutely tear apart a book if theres a rules glitch of some sort....it's ridiculous...

I also find it irritating as there is always someone who gets "offended" when someone has a legitimate complaint about D20 or 3E rules...

Other than that ENworld rocks!

JeffB :)
