Hey Folks,

I migh be spending a month or so on set with my daughter in Austin TX, and was wondering if anyone here wanted to meet up for drinks/gaming etc?

Also, do I need a cowboy hat? ;)

Austin is perhaps the coolest city in the US, imo. Ari is an excellent host and does indeed know all the mariachi playing tex-mex places in town. :) What was that place called again? Mamma or something like that?

Alread been:) Used to live in Louisiana, and day-tripped over more than once.

Allright, will do. I think, from reading the comments in that guy's dealer feedback, that he was dishonest so much as flagrantly incompetent (and testy about it).

I prefer San Antone, myself. Still, Austin is a decent place as well, although as a native of the Bryan/College Station area and a holder of two degrees from Texas A&M University, I naturally can't praise it too much. It is odd, though, how un-Texan Austin is in a lot of ways. You may actually stand out if you wear your Justin Ropers, starched and pressed Wranglers (with the chaw ring in the back-pocket, of course) and your big hat, unlike the rest of the state.

Wil Upchurch is from Plano, if I recall. I have a sister-in-law there, is why I remember. In fact, most of my family and in-laws both are still in Texas.

Hey, Tef, you should definately scope out Schlitterbahn if you get the chance too...

Have to agree with Joshua Dyal: prefer SA myself (then again, I virtually live next-door to the dang ol' place). Not like Austin, though--being a military town has definitely shaped it a certain way, IMHO.

Then again, Austin's a nifty place. Nifty places & people there. Freebird's is nice (never heard of the place `til a few friends from Austin took me there--quite nice for a snack).

And, there's a particular phrase on a few t-shirts from the area that, well, sums up some people's feeling about the town:

Keep Austin Weird.

Nevertheless, hope ya have fun while you're there.
