Ending a quest with a last second steal from the players

@Quickleaf I will have to rethink the quest and delay it a bit but I have a more evil idea for the NPC, thanks.

I will flesh the villain out more, he was originally going to be a mercenary hired to claim the reward for a different (evil) employer but now I will make reasons why an evil NPC can't reach the inner sanctum and he needs to trick the PCs into doing it for him... :devil:

@ImperatorK doesn't that defeat the purpose of trying to take it, if the party have a 50/50 chance of keeping it and a 0% chance of using it...why bother stealing it, just let them have it

I'm sorry if that sounded overly harsh, that was an honest question in case I missed something...which I do seem to have given what the thread has become
