The small plane of Endoar is a testing ground for the Law vs Chaos everraging battle. The Cup of Creation is its main artifact. With it, a Lawful-tendencied or a Chaotic-tendencied life is generated. All life on the plane is influence by the Cup.
The Cup is kept by the previous winners of the Law vs Chaos battles. When Chaos resides over the cup, the Law side had lost and therefore is no longer present on the plane. But the cup brings balance and therefore the new life on the plane is a little Law-oriented. The winners go in hiding, hiding the cup and safekeeping it.
As time passes the Law armies enter the plane again and battle Chaos again for control of the cup and therefore the plane. The outcome is ever unknown, and both sides have little respect for the life on the planet. Ofttimes at the end of one war there is little life left on the plane.
Law is represented by the Formians.
Chaos is represented by the Slaadi.
All new life on the plane is composed of generic D&D races.
Then there is a small group of the Prime Material that observes but stays out of it. But some in the group do want to interfere...
This is, in a few words, my setting at the moment.
The PCs are, of course, born on the plane, blissfully ignorant of the above. When the war begins again, might they be the individuals to end this ever reoccuring war?
What do you think of this setting? Am I missing something?
Note that this is the situation as I see it now, Campaign is running and I made this up as we went along. PCs started at 1st, are now 10th and I want to be able to get to an end somewhere around 15th-20th. But how could they get to a satisfactory ending?
