Enemy Among Us (DM: Stringbean2142, Judge: TwoHeadsBarking)

[sblock=ooc]L4W games don't have OOC threads, dunno why, although I'm not inclined to break the trend.

If your second question is referring to a new adventure thread (as opposed to an OOC thread) then I won't be creating a new one unless this one reaches 50 pages. Which, given the adventure, is pretty unlikely, unless you guys become really chatty.

And hey, it's not a problem if you have questions or need rule clarifications. We've all been there. PMs also work, if you don't want to fill up the thread.[/sblock]

[sblock=Ignore me!]Veruzak finishes the incantation, just as Kendrick steps out of the way. Shadows begin to trickle up from the ground, and rise until it seems that a 25 foot portal to Veruzak's homeland, the shadow realm has opened. The shadows claw at anything in the area, and continue to lash out at any new creature to enter.

The wizard then slowly, carefully, lays down on his stomach and covers his head. Focusing on keeping the static noise down.

Hearing Bell assert herself vehemently, Veruzak responds in a calm voice, Look for yourself. These are less human than Igor. In fact, Igor would use them as spare parts. The wizard is secretly hurt that Bell screamed at him, and worried that she, like Martelai, isn't taking the mindless remote control murder drones seriously...

Delay until after Kendrick...

Grasping Shadows area burst 2 centered at L13 (alt 2), targets each creature in the burst. Husk 17 13 vs will, Husk 39 8 vs will, Hound 81 17 vs will, Horse 23 vs will for 7 psychic damage, and the target is slowed TE of Veruzak's NT.
Effect: Shadows writhe in the designated area and continue TE of Veruzak's NT. Any creature that enters the area of the grasping shadows takes 5 psychic damage and is slowed TE of it’s NT.

Free go prone

Veruzak is collecting specimens, and spare parts for his Igors. He will choose to incapacitate over kill for all enemies including Seekers.

-''Hey, just watch your aim, damn it! I am not your ****ing puppet, I have my own job to do!'' Kendrick shouts angrily to Veruzak.

[sblock=OOC]Wait, you want me to shift back? Are you kidding me? I am not wasting an entire round just so you can include one extra-minion in the area of effect!

If I focused on stepping out of your intended area blast, it would mean my round would consist of either hitting a minion and then moving away (not my job to waste 1 round on 1 minion!), or shifting back and making a charge (very inneficient for me, I woudn't get my extra damage), or maybe risking an OA to go attack someone out of the area you want to hit when it precisely makes more sense for me to hit someone bloodied by your attack.

Why would I drastically weaken my own turn just so you can marginally improve yours? Be serious. My job is to mop up, not scatter away.

Kendrick will stay right where he is, you will make a blast of your choice that does not include me (plenty of options) and then I will take my action! Preferably I will go tackle someone that has just been weakened by veruzak and hopefully finish him off, even if I have to risk an OA from the minion.[/sblock]

Veruzak fumbles his spell, between the chastisement from Bell, and the vehement anger of Kendrick, he can't seem to pull together the concentration to finish it. He carefully lays down on the roof, and covers his head preparing for another mental onslaught.

Standard Total Defense.

@Mal: I won't ask again.

[sblock=Veruzak]Going from trying to push me around for the sake of including one extra minion in a blast to doing nothing at all is a little extreme.

There was plenty of good blast opportunities.

When you do use your grasping Shadow power, try to include Seekers in the blast; they are vulnerable.

Kendrick moves around the husk, dodging his attacks, then charges the possessed horse, putting it down with a clean stroke. He then whirls around and in a flurry of deadly strikes he nearly puts down the hound which yelps in agony. He then steps back toward his ally, a grim smile of satisfaction on his face.

[sblock=Actions]
Standard:
Charge (M11, M12, L14)
OA from Husk
vs AC 17+2 (1d20+6=11)
Charge vs Horse:
vs AC 16 (1d20+7+1=21, 1d8+4=10) hits for 10, kills it (note I didn't use quarry damage)
Minor: Hounds are quarry
AP: Two-Fanged Strike:
vs AC 16 (1d20+7=20, 1d8+4=7, 1d20+7=20, 1d8+4=9) Booyah! 2 hits. +2 (wis) to damage.
quarry (1d6=6)
Total Damage vs Hound: 7+9+2+6=24

Move: Shift to M13

[Sblock=OOC] Veruzak will let the enemies group up some more, he's a bit overwhelmed by the team raising voices in anger at him, been in a monastery for two years where that has not happened...

My OOC motivation, is a one round tiff with Mal. I asked a question, with one of these (?) on the end. In response, a single line of IC, and a block of OOC. With underlines and exclamations (!) behind most sentences. Including this one, "you will make a blast of your choice that does not include me (plenty of options) and then I will take my action!"

It's very clear in the OOC block, that Mal doesn't want to be "pushed around", and in kind, I'd like to not be "pushed around". All Veruzak has is blasts, so there aren't many options to avoid the direct order.

Veruzak therfore lays down this round, and takes full defense.

I won't ask Mal to do anything with his character again, and he won't need to respond like that again.

I'll get along with him, he'll get along with me (I hope), and the game can move on. (Take this line to mean no hard feelings Mal, I do understand that your character is your own.)

But this round, is what it is.

[sblock=ooc]Fair enough.

Actually, Mal, you wouldn't be able to Quarry the hound, since charging ends your turn unless you spend an AP. So subtract Quarry damage and add AP damage and it comes out the same.

Neurotic is up.[/sblock]
