The hounds leap forward. One savagely bites at Atlas' stony skin, while the other loses sight of Martelai in his localized snowstorm.
The ephemeral creatures tremble slightly, and then in unison strike out at the group with their tendrils. The one Martelai injured seems to practically erupt in a lashing frenzy. Catein avoids the attacks, and Veruzak is not even targeted, but everyone else feels a wave of pain wash over them as the feelers brush against their skin. Martelai seems to be affected the most.
The horse rushes to Kendrik, rears up, and clobbers him with a hoof.
The people move forward slowly, as though in a trance. In fact, you notice that their eyes are closed, and some of them are smiling slightly.
