What more noble cause in death could their families wish for. Veruzak has no hint of sarcasm or feigned care, just cool steady logic. I've done an opposed skill challenge before in a RL game I DMed. It went well, this is what I did;
The PC's rolled opposing checks, both had a regular skill challenge difficulty. The twist, I raised all DCs by 2, to represent non-cooperation.
If either PC beat the DC it counted as a success for the party. The PC who had the most success' during the challenge won. If the skill challenge was successfully completed...
So the group works together to complete the challenge i.e. Everyone wants to preserve and keep the bodies working. Group win, or group fail.
Something like, Bell's side made 5 successful rolls, to Veruzak's side only having 3, the people would be saved. If Veruzak's side made 5 successful rolls, to Bell's side only having 3, the people would be useful as self sustaining organ donors.
If Bell's Side and Veruzak's side made X successes, but need Y, and had N failures (N being their quota), then the people would be worthless as organ donors, and remain non-sentient.
Thoughts? I'd be interested in improving this for future games.
