D&D 3E/3.5 Energy Substitution: Sonic... OK in 3.5?

Does the Energy Substitution feat in its 3.5 incarnation allow Sonic substitution? If so, did it knock the damage down 1 die?

(I ask because the Screaming weapon quality was changed from 1d6 to 1d4)

Sonic was removed from the list of energy types you can substitute when it was put in Complete Arcane.

Hmmm....could that have anything to do with the almost complete lack of sonic resistance??

Yes and No.

No: As it was reprinted in Complete Arcane (or wherever) sonic substitution was removed.

Yes: If your source for the feat was the Deities and Demigods book and you use the 3.5 Update, then this feat has not been modified and still allows sonic. Additionally, if your game allows the full SRD and/or only the SRD, energy substitution allows sonic.
