Engel: What do you think?

Honestly? Angels battling demons in a post apocalyptic world does not appeal to me at all. I would rather play a game of modern day ANgels, Humans and Half-Vamps fighting against the evils of the Undead, Nephilim and other nasties in a world where god is truly dead and a demon has taken the throne after a 2000 year struggle for power. Urmmmm...

I didn't say that...

Actually, having had the pleasure of editing the upcoming Creatures of the Dreamseed book for Engel, I'd have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the setting. Let me also say that I was, admittedly, fairly sceptical at first, as the whole "angels fighting demons in the dark future" seemed pretty cliched and... hmmm.... I don't know -- juvenile? Puerile? Cheesy? ;)

But having worked closely on the stuff now, I can honestly say that I'd really enjoy playing in an Engel game. I'd probably want to play in a party of humans, though, rather than a flight of Engel, just 'cause it would be more interesting to me personally. YMMV. It's quite fascinating, actually, and there's a lot more depth to the game and the setting than you might think, even after having read the page at S&SS. It's pretty gritty, and it's not, despite what you may be tempted to think, all about superpowers and uber-factoring (a.k.a. "munchkinism"). Lots of good rp potential.

And the Dreamseed book, at least, is pretty much all in first-person narrative; quite an interesting read.

Just give the game a try before you slam it.

I've been keeping my eye on this one for a couple weeks, since someone posted a link on RPG.net... very interested. Very, very interested.

Actually, while in Germany, i was able to check alot of the original material, and i believe it will do very well using the d20 system. I cannot wait for it!

Having a penchant for settings and different applications of D20, I am going to have to buy this (cinches up the tourniquet and slaps up a vein)

The exerpts look werll written, and it looks like the setting has been well thought out.

I am looking forward to Engel, even if I never get to run it.

I might play it, but I have only a limited amount of time and money and I like D&D, GURPS, Vampire, Exalted, etc., better. :p

Yes. As with others here the first glance of Engel did little to entice me to play it. However when I heard more about the game and explored its depths a little I realised that there was a really good game here. Its not what I expected at all and I was pelasantly surprised.

But hey that's just me :)

The game looks intresting, and the pages are certainly pretty in an asthetic sort of way. I wonder though, did anyone else have a hard time with the font?
