I understand the reasons; it's just still counter-intuitive. We can't extol the virtues of product A simply because it was originally designed for a different niche. Even if product A were the best thing to happen to RPG since story-based experience points, 99% of the RPG community considered it a must-have, and it single-handedly changed the face of RPG gaming, it's disqualified from being recognized by an Ennie award, due solely to the fact it was originally intended for a different gaming niche. (Don't you just love hyperbole?

Dramatics aside, it seems we ought to be able to recognize the contributions a product makes to the RPG arena regardless of its origins. That's what I don't get, but hey, some folks juggle geese.
