Enough is enough: Let's do something about Driizzt do'Urden

How about a double-weapon? There's plenty of choices.

Given her general sneakiness...how about a kusarigama?

After googling what a kusarigama actually is...

I think that would be AWESOME!

I really like the "exotic" nature...seems more "drowy"...and I'm sure they could/would design all sorts of wicked looking blades for the sickle...maybe spikes on the weighted end of the chain (nothing wrong with inflicting a bit of damage while you're incapacitating.:])

Sounds good to me. Anyone else? Yay's, Nay's, other ideas?

It doesn't really mesh with the kusarigama, but I have always loved the (original) concept of drow using hand-crossbows. Should she carry one of those also...or two of them? I'm thinking, maybe, it is a "snap together" kind of weapon, so noone knows she has one...the various pieces would be secreted around her armor/outfit...She be able to assemble it in a single round, of course.;)

How about a name? Armor?

Or thoughts for a possible backstory. Why is she/what made/led her to be morally Neutral? Has she completely left the Underdark? Is she on the surface for her own purposes or some mission? Is she being hunted down?

She did have a pair of hand X-bows as well, equipped with bolts that injected a sleep poison. This enabled her to restrain her targets and question them about their secrets, sucking them dry of arcane knowledge. Spiderlike, yes?

And a kusarigama could do likewise with a spiked ball at it's tip. A further note on the kusarigama: the fanciest one I've seen had a spike on each end of the shaft from which the Kama blade emerged, making it look like a pointy lowercase "r".

Her motives in the original form were simple: she was a combo of Indiana Jones and a cat burglar. She wanted to acquire the greatest collection OS spells, and didn't much care whether the tomes she found them in were treasure or still in active use...

She figured 2 things:
  1. The Underdark, while home to many unusual magics, was sparsely populated- the good stuff would be harder to find
  2. She would need to be a powerful spellcaster herself, focused on anti-spellcaster tactics

Eventually, she fell in with a group of powerful adventurers, at least in part to improve her odds of success.

Over time, she fell in love with the party's Ftr/Illusionist/Assassin and gave up her "mission." She did NOT, however, give up on adventuring. Given her skill-set, she took her beloved's place within the party, while he concentrated on building his personal guild and network.

As bad as a Drizzt-clone can be in a tabletop game (I've seen a few that were VERY bad), there are worse things. Kender, or halflings being played like kender can go to the head of the executioner's line.

A Drizzt-clone is much, much worse when the game is question is a LARP, and the angsty, dual-wielding 'good' drow is played by an angsty whining teen Drizzt-fanboy that can't understand why the monsters don't acknowledge his awesome-ness (and insist on killing him, and endangering his friends when the go to rescue him). This is a very ugly thing- so I wholeheartedly support any new ideas to supplant the Drizzt-based concept.

Other weapon options:

  1. The kusarigama could have various magical options like a Rod of Lordly Might- the end of the chain could transform into a grappling claw; the spike at the bottom of the hilt could detatch, revealing a garrote; etc.
  2. She could use a magical hooked net that injects sleep poison
  3. She could use twin rapiers, possibly with synergistic enchantments (like hasting her and slowing a wounded target.
