Enough With The Orc And Pie!

Well, rounser, my old friend, perhaps it doesn’t mean the world to me, but it chips away at my daily resolve….

Whenever a man in a XXXL t-shirt says “Nih”, a little part of me dies.
Whenever I hear Orc and Pie jokes, a little part of me dies.
Whenever I have to make small talk with someone about the weather, a little part of me dies….

Then again, I have been known to spark some lively discussion now and then……

Its okay, King Stannis.
I understand. Everythings gonna be all right.

But whenever a man in an XXXL shirt who hasn't showered in a few days sits down next to me at a gaming table, a little part of me dies.

...and then the rest of me gets up and changes seats. :p

I can’t wait to read that someone’s “new campaign world is, GET THIS - ORC AND PIE!!!!????”…..or the next time someone wants suggestions for a low level adventure, “they should go and get…..ORC AND PIE!!?”

Hong, I think this may well indicate the validity of your proposed hypothesis?

hmmm, here's my original post:

"yes, this was mildly amusing when monte first posted it on his site. now, however, it gets brought up incessently by members here. the joke is over, folks, let it rest. it's like listening to the same loser recite lines from monty python and the holy grail over and over again. IT'S JUST NOT FUNNY ANYMORE!!!!"

sounds like an opinion to me. not sure how this relates in any way to making something appear like a question when it's not. please explain.

Of course you are using "little death" in its use as a euphemism for . . . sleep. It is true that people don't get enough sleep these days.

I was just being facecious (sp?)... I wasn't referring to your original post, just to the quote of the one post (see my last post) which seemed to have question marks where they didn't belong grammatically.

Hong had mentioned this tendency in his post, which I quoted (again, see my previous post)... if you are looking for any real meaning here my friend, methinks you are looking too hard; I was just being st:) :) pid.

dont take this the wrong way- just making an observation:

It's funny that you claim to HATE it when people tellorc and pie jokes, or orc and pie allusions, or orc and pie campaign ideas... butyou started a thread that talks about nothing BUT ORC an PIE.

By doing this, you have caused a debate over nothign BUT orc and Pie and everything that comes out of people's will be orc and Pie, and every subject hereafetr will be orc and pie...

so- technically- you instigated something that could have faded and died out afetr a awhile.

this is a common theme in popular culture. fads and fashion come and go. the only thing that keeps them alive is the people that remember them and speak of them.

And also- a fad dies out unless theer is a reason for it to stay alive. Sometimes, the very thing designated to shut down a fad will nurture its growth.

EX- i don't know if you guys know of Boggs- but he is an artist that draws paper money. He thought it was a cool transaction idea (where he draws money and uses it as real money). the FBI didnt think it was so cool- so they tried to shut him down. he admitted that if they would have left him alone, the fun wouldhave faded from the game- and he would have movedon to other forms of art. But since they chose to pursue him so adamantly, he decided to print his paper money (instead of just drawing them) and use that in the real world....
