Enterprise 10-08-03

Ok, well, I just saw it, and I'm kinda not sure what to think. The closest plot I can think of is TNG: The Naked Now.

However, something struck me as weird: did it seem that some parts seemed sped up during the action shots (e.g. a zombie Vulcan jumps out at Archer, and it seemed a little quick)?

Seems like this incident might help Archer regain some of his perspective and lose part of his head-strong-at-all-costs attitude.

Everything has been done before, either inside or outside of ST. What are your thoughts on this episode as it stands alone?

They seem to be taking a chapter from the trend in movies to adjust speeds and use cut frame techniques. Seems to work well enough for me, but I can see how it might bother some folks. For one friend of mine it totally ruined his experience with Braveheart

It didn't strike me as that interesting. Yes, the action scenes were sped up and that was annoying. I think this has been my least favortite of the season so far.

*wolf quickly avoids all posts in this thread ...*

I have to wait until sunday to watch this one

*prays to god of VCR's that his programming skills will be up to the challenge ... and slipping a holla' out to the god of 'please no preempting this show on sunday'*

I liked it. They've established a trend of being a starship crew that actually does things in space, as opposed to standing around the bridge looking distressed. I mean, it wasn't until First Contact that anyone in the TNG crew actually put on a spacesuit.

Plus, the asteroid field scenes were cool.

I agree with this 100%. I was hoping that the "Delphic Expanses" concept was an attempt by the Trek team to take the show in just such a direction. So far, it seems to have been borne out. However, with the way Archer is acting, and the general malaise the crew has been under, it's hard to see them doing anything really lighthearted or whimsical, which the old series did.

I was waiting for the scene where Capt. Archer is walking down a corridor, past the Transporter, stops and hits the comm; "Trip was there something you forgot to tell me?"

Ok, was there a point to the final sequence?
I think the fact that
she was dreaming. AFAIK, Vulcans suppress dreams, don't they? So I kind of thought it indicated that her control isn't going to come back so simply.

Yeah... I thought at first they'd end the show on a lighter note, with the crew watching the movie, but then they show T'Pol and her nasty dream. I think it's in keeping with the show's new, darker theme: this doesn't end happily at the end of the episode. Hopefully they'll make use of this in the following episodes, and not drop this; have T'Pol still struggle with her control.

Also, what about the trillium (sp?)? Archer stores it in the cargo bay; will they keep working on it, or will Trip just forget about it until Phlox finds a "cure" for T'Pol?

In any case, this episode reminded me a lot of Resident Evil (the game)...

Best episode of the season so far. Firing weapons (lots of weapons fire :D ) is ALWAYS cool. Ships blowin up is ALWAYS cool. Asteroid fields are ALWAYS cool.

Ergo, this episode is cool by default.

An out of control T'pol would be cool for a couple of episodes. Maybe she gets horny when she can't control her emotions
