Enterprise 25 Feb 03

As others said, not bad. Nothing special. Safe episode. I was entertained, but not nearly as much as I was last week.

I mean the entire Star Trek franchise has a huge, rather devoted following. How does pumping up one episode (and a dull one at that) really influence the viewing public? Either people are going to tune in because it is Start Trek or not.

Sure ENT is a new series, but since it is part of the ST franchise it is just a continuation of a well established family of shows.
Enterprise's ratings haven't been all that great from what I recall. Couple that with it airing on a network that is not that high on the TV radar (in comparison) means that they don't have an automatic draw every week. They still need new viewers while keeping current Trek fans happy.

I never thought of that aspect. I get ENT on a basic cable channel (not UPN) here in Canada so I didn't really think about that side of the equation.

I hadn't really thought of it either until I remembered that not everyone gets a dedicated UPN channel. I guess sometimes they merge it with the WB's broadcasting.

We used to have a dedicated UPN station untill a weird shake-up. The UPN station became CBS, CBS became news, we now get UPN 11pm-1am on the fox station.

Our cable system shakeup was even more annoying. We had a station that showed UPN and the WB. Then it changed to -- Univision. Habla Espanol?

The local Fox affiliate then picked up the WB programs, and show them at night just as soon as Fox programming goes off -- 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Central.

The Time Warner cable system shows the UPN programs on one of its shopping network channels for two hours a night.

Where was Mistwell getting his numbers from? We should start a thread that just keeps track of the raqting of all of the shows that get regularly watched and discussed in this forum, and keep the top post in the thread updated with the info on each show as they progress throughout the season. Maybe even keep track of off-season reruns. That's where you get the chance to pick up some new viewers (once they're done watching their regular show and give a new one a chance.)

Not a bad episode, IMO, but not overly inspired, either. It didn't advance the characters so much as affirm them. That, again, speaks to my assertion of its marketing focus.

Just a filler episode. We're out of sweeps, so the big episodes will be out of the way for a while. Not an important episode, but not one that sunk to the level of say, "Dawn".

They do around here. We don't have UPN, but we get WB.
