[ENWORLD] What can we do!?!?

I have a paypal merchant account that I could easily setup an enworld specific email address for to make donations. As its a merchant accoount they skim a little off the top but if cyberstreet will ecept paypal payment we can give it a go to atleast resolve the past due account situation while you resolve the long term goals. I can set up Morrus and some 2nd party with limited access to my paypal account where they can view the money coming in so theres no issue of any of the money marked for enworld disappearing so to speak.

Let me know if this sounds reasonable for the short term goal of the past due monies or not and we can start on it.

Then you can work on the long term goals and getting En World backup and live.

As I mentioned in a prior post I have a many gigabytes of bandwidth going to waste on my personal site that can be used and as I only pay 2 bucks for each extra gigabyte of bandwidth it would not take much donation money to keep the temporary forums running while the problem is resolved.

I havent a clue how many gigabytes of bandwidth the EnWorld forums bruns through in a month But I am fairly sure the extra 30gig a month I have wont cover all of it but maybe between my site and some other helpful souls we can distribute the forum categories over several folks sites or depending on the amount of the donations I can simply up my gigabyte limit as needed while find a solution to the problem.

Returned? Don't need the money returned.

Not like this place isn't worth it.

(Says he who "never got around" to becoming a supporter...)

Let's do this thing. It seems like we could easily hit that number if the showings from GenCon are any measure.

Why does the bad stuff always happen to the nicest people?

I was going to get paypal and send in a hefty donation once I turned 18 (Oct 31, by the way), which makes all the more angry that this situation pops up less than a week before I can help out. *sigh*

But I'm confident that there are enough of us here with enough cash to solve this not-so-little problem. It'll take more than a greedy cyberstreet to take EN World down! I hope.

Okay, let me just get this out of the way. Russ, I'm pissed. $1600 is chump change, and if you'd spoken up even a week ago this would be easy.

Put me down for $100 -- I've got it ready to go as Paypal, credit card or check, so just tell me where to send it.

However, I expect you to do the following:

1) Figure out how you're going to cover that $400 per month shortfall. Pledges, ads, selling your body on the street, whatever. I'll tell you right off that I am happy to send you $100 a year for this site -- it's easily worth this much to me as a professional resource.

2) Keep us up to date on the basic financial status of the site. If it's making money, great. If it's losing money, it would be good to know so we can offer advice or help. If you really need help, yell. We'll be there.

All you have to do is ask.

best wishes,

Chris Aylott

OK, we have a solution. Expeditious Retreat Press will be "selling" EN World donation "products" which you can buy online. The money raised with these sales will go straight into site costs. I'll post the link and more details asap.

Yes, ericnoah@charter.net.

IMPORTANT: Russ is posting the details soon, but my PayPal account can only accept money from other Paypal accounts that are funded by a bank account. Credit Card payments can't be accepted here. Russ will post details about how to donate by credit card soon. Thanks!
