I'd assuming "off and on" is still "years gaming," because – frankly – once you're jumped into the clique, you're down for life, but feel free to use your own judgement.

I stopped playing from around '88 or '89 to '01, and I only played in a single one-shot last year, but yeah, GFL I suppose.

I started playing D&D around 1979, having filched the unopened Basic D&D boxed set, still wrapped in plastic, from my older brother's closet. I was 14 at the time. There was a dry spell from 1990-1994, when I had moved home from college, where I managed to have one or two games a year at the most. In 1995, I started DMing games online. I haven't gamed offline since then.

10-14 years.

Actually was about 10 years exactly since starting playing D&D. It was in 1998-1999 (forgot when exactly) when I was 8-9. Let me tell you it was an odd time to get into gaming, while it obviously wasn't overnight. It felt like editions were switching every day. Plus being young the new edition, plus past editions made it more confusing.

14 years come this summer.

Cut my teeth on a Mage/Werewolf game, which is like learning to fly by being pushed off a cliff. I was only 11.

Actual conversation -

Me: So you're telling me I can...I can teleport behind that Black Spiral Dancer using my magic spheres?
GM: Yes.
Me: And I can shoot him? In the butt?
GM: Um, yes.
Me: (grabbing some dice) This is awesome.

Like I said, I was only 11.
