[Epic]Adding a spellcasting class

OK, I'm a little confused. What happens when an epic-level character adds a new spellcasting class?

A concrete example:
Let's say I'm a 23rd lvl Human Fighter. I've got a +20 BAB, +2 Epic AB, +13 Fort, +7 Ref and Will, 7 general non-epic feats, 10 bonus non-epic fighter feats, 1 general epic feat, and 1 bonus epic fighter feat. Plus my stats and equipment of course.

Check?

Now, 5 levels after directly meeting my deity, I've added 5 levels of Cleric. To the above I add another +2 Epic AB, +3 to all saves, and 2 general epic feats.

Check?

(Now this is where I'm confused)
Do I cast spells as a 5th-level cleric? Or do I just turn undead?

A more complex example:
I'm a Fighter 11/Wizard 9. I gain a level. Regardless of which class I pick, I get +1 Epic AB, and 1 general epic feat.
If I pick Fighter, do I get a fighter bonus feat?
If I pick Wizard, a wizard bonus feat, and gain (and cast) spells as a 10th-level wizard?

You get ALL class abilities except BAB and Base Saves.

So yes, your first example casts spells as a 5th level cleric.

Yes, your second example will get a bous Fighter of Wizard feat, depending on which class you level up. If you pick Wizard, you will indeed cast spells as a 10th level wizard.

That's what I thought, but the ELH confused me, when it said that a spellcaster doesn't gain any more spells after 20th level. It wasn't clear in the context if it meant after 20th character level, or 20th class level.

That refers to class levels. Once you are a 20th level caster is a given class, you stop getting new spells for that class, outside of taking feats. You can still gets spells for other classes as long as you haven't hit 20th level in them.

They mean 20th class level with that. So a Clr 21 has the same amount of spells as a Clr 20 (but of course, the former can have epic feats to help him with that).
