A vain and feeble ploy to get this thread closed down because you have realized that your arguements amount to 'I don't do things this way in my campaign so no one should be allowed to?'

No, it's a broad brush leaving a swath of paint that in an attempt to address the issue. Like I said earlier, I am at work and very busy. Enjoy.

Some of the people in this thread should be ashamed of themselves!

The bottom line is that roleplaying is meant to be fun! So what if the character is level 1 or level 100!?

Who the hell are any of you to prejudge people who want to roleplay 'super' (read Epic) or immortal characters!?

Last time I checked its just a game; a number of people here seem to have forgotten that!

Hi Flexor! :)

How the hell does anyone play one PC to 71st level?

It is possible, though it does take a while getting there by fair means.

It was also a lot easier in previous editions since 'XP needed' baselined at (approx.) 10th-level while challenges still needed to be increased.

Wow. I doubt my group would still be playing the same guys that long. I'm sure we'd have went through 3 different campaigns.

We still have multiple campaigns; incorporate a variety of RPGs and roleplay alternate characters (all within the one over-arching campaign) - the variety lends to keeping it all fresh.

Anyone who starts crying "munchkin" too loudly is always at risk of being an elitist snob, and I think rightly so.

It's a game, for goodness sake. It's supposed to be fun. What does it matter if it's a game of subtleties or one of raw power?

I'll buy the book, but I'll probably never use much of it, just as I don't use CRs, don't dish out Exp according to challenges overcome and don't adher to standard wealth rate or otherwise slavishly follow official rules and guidelines.

As far as controlling demi-gods go... my style of game does not allow for god-like power in the hands of PCs, so I'll not even try to contemplate DMing a campaign at such levels (I call my 2E 4M exp byoc campaign "munchkin" already). Currently we are playing level 9 and 10 PCs in two campaigns, and go up a level every two to three month, or when the DM and the players think it would fit.

So, I can safely say that I'll probably never use the Epic book for those levels.

The more times you respond the more hollow that claim sounds.

If you really think people are sensitive, why in the name of all that is good did you compare Gaming to Terrorism?

Hey, at least my previous posts have pertained to the subject at hand. Perhaps you should start a new thread for your personal attacks.

So essentially what you're saying is that munchkins should be encouraged in this fashion, that this kind of gaming should be condoned? And if you don't agree or condone it, you should just not participate or ignore it entirely, right? So it's kind of like saying "the fatah and fanatic Muslims will be comitting terrorist acts against the Israel and non-Muslims abroad whether we say it's ok or not, so putting up specs for all of our bombs and military installations is OK because they'll just build/bomb them anyway."
I suppose next you'll be bringing the Nazis into it, yes?

Try to wrap your ideology around this one - there is a difference between "munchkins should not be encouraged" and "things that may incidentally provide encouragement to munchkins should be elimanated". Think on that and get back to me when you see the distinction.

(Apropos of nothing, isn't it interesting how y_m here doesn't see calling others munchkins or rules lawyers and comparing their gaming style to terrorism and genocide as the very sort of "personal attack" he keeps moaning about?. ;) )

- Sir Bob.

P.S. Nih!

Thus far all my personal attacks have pertained to the subject at hand as well.

Yes, exactly my point. Bravo!

Sorry I don't have the time to give you more attention, sunshine.

Fenes writes, "So, I can safely say that I'll probably never use the Epic book for those levels."

Yeah, but what about that fantastic character WotC put up on the web site [see URL at the beginning of this thread]? Will you use him/her/it.

PenguinKing writes, "I suppose next you'll be bringing the Nazis into it, yes?"

Patience is a virtue. Maybe when I have more time.

PenguinKing writes, "Apropos of nothing, isn't it interesting how y_m here doesn't see comparing another person's gaming style to terrorism and genocide as the very sort of "personal attack" he keeps moaning about."

I'm not moaning about anything. Obviously, the subject of these messages has proven that.

Tsyr writes, "Thus far all my personal attacks have pertained to the subject at hand as well."

Nah, so far all of your attacks have pertained to you. Besides, I haven't said anything personally degrading to you. Perhaps you should review them, as you have that kind of time on your hands.

Maybe you should just let go of the personal things and focus more on the first post in this thread.

Wolfspider writes, "It's a game, for goodness sake. It's supposed to be fun. What does it matter if it's a game of subtleties or one of raw power?"

That's a good question.

I think you were one of the people he was referring to (Feel free to correct me however U_K).

Yeah, but what about that fantastic character WotC put up on the web site [see URL at the beginning of this thread]? Will you use him/her/it.

If he does, so what? If he doesn't, so what? It doesn't effect you. Why do you care?

Patience is a virtue. Maybe when I have more time.

The fact that you will even joke about that scares me.

I'm not moaning about anything. Obviously, the subject of these messages has proven that.

Actualy, pretty much every one of your messages has been moaning.

Nah, so far all of your attacks have pertained to you. Besides, I haven't said anything personally degrading to you. Perhaps you should review them, as you have that kind of time on your hands.

So far all of my attacks have pertained to a person insulting people for playing a certain style of game that the book in question is aimed for. I'd call that relevent to the topic at hand. You are, however, free to disagree. And yes, you have said something degrading to me... you have, thus far, used the phrase " twinks, munchkins, and people too dumb to play Diablo" to describe people who play high powered campagins (which I do at times, and enjoy them), as well as compared me to terrorists who kill innocent people.
