So yes or no do I have this right?

As a 21st level character you get the epic/regular feat

as a 1st level class fighter you get only regular feat.

So that's two feats at 21st level. One epic/regular and one regular. Right?

Yes.

so you are saying the book is wrong?

ELH, page 8, under the "Adding a second class" heading, second column, second paragraph:

"Whenever an epic character is allowed to pick up a feat as part of character advancement, he can choose either a nonepic feat or an epic feat. All class descriptions provide a list of bonus feats that characters must choose from. When you have to choose from a list of bonus feats in your second class, you can also choose from the bonus epic feats described for each specific class below."

So therefore, in the previous post's example, you would get one feat (any epic or nonepic) from character level, and one feat (epic or nonepic fighter) from his 1st level in Fighter.

reading Crothian's second post, he suggests that Andy Collins said the book is wrong.

is this official errata?

if not, i would choose to play it the way the book states, as i see no real issues with it. most of the Epic feats require prereqs that a character with another class (i.e. a wiz or a cleric) going multi with a 1st level fighter is not going to have.

The book contradicts itself, I believe, which means to play by the book you have to choose which rule to follow.

Andy suggests using the one Crothian suggested (and its the one I use, err ... would use if I was running an Epic game)

But this has already spawned giant debates so I'll end my post here. :D

ah, i didn't realize this was a big issue.

do you happen to know where the book states the opposite view from the one i posted?

i'm about to participate in a mini-campaign using the ELH, to test it for our own campaign in the future, and this may be something we will have to play out to determine our house rule stand on it.
