Erfworld

Read it, like it.

The cute-speak and anachronisms don't bother me at all, and I loved the Titans of Ark all being gigantic Elvis..es. Elvii. Whatever. The King.

Although, I'd have to admit that...

*THWUPP*
"My Lord?"
"I can taste key lime pie."
*WHUMPF*

...made me chuckle.

Otherwise, aside from that, his particular style of art (and specifically and especially Lady Fairbaugh) vaguely reminds me of Bratz, a particularly detestable brand of doll that's apparently all the rage amongst my 7-year-old daughter's friends.

Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't give me a very favorable first impression.

I think "miss firebaugh" says it best...

"Crap!!"

I might be willing to give this another look in a month or so... but I doubt it.

I'm in "wait and see" mode here, but the first installment did give me several chuckles, the first of which was "key lime pie."

The ruler is obviously completely bonkers, which has potential in the story department, and the "world created by Elvis" was just a bit of weirdness that made me do a double-take. I did really like the idea of using a book to "text-message" between two parties; that has potential even in a regular non-humorous D&D game. Sure it's an anachronism, but in comics like this those usually turn out to be joke setups rather than anything off-putting. So, wait and see.

Fixed that for you. ;)

Diane Duane uses something similar in her "Young Wizards" series of novels.

See strangely enough, I liked the art (especially Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury as Lord Manpower the Temporary). But the story telling left me flat. I was pretty damn confused throughout the whole six pages.

2. I still find the intentionaly mispellings annoying. We have "R"s and "L"s in this alphabet for a reason. Use them for words like Dragon and Goblin.

3. I find the use of the word "croak" instead of dead to be irritating.

4. I find the whole "croakamancer/findamancer/etc" to be very juvenile as well.

I'm willing to give it a chance, but those three things were jarring for me, the last one being the worst. And I'm certainly willing to accept made-up words, but those "funny"mancers just don't flow together.

It seems to me Erfworld is not just another comic for the regular audience of OotS. I've only liked a few OotS comics ever, so I am not a fan at all. On the other hand Erfworld looks interesting and the first half-dozen pages made me smile more than the entire run of OotS has.

Again, QFT.

And Erfworld still looks so Enworld like... comic is pretty okay-ish. Nice art, but nothing special compared to webcomics like Girl Genius Online.

I'll probably stick with Erfworld quite a while, simply because I'm already visiting OotS, but that was it... doesn't hook me. Lacks IMO uniqueness.
