I did really like the idea of using a book to "text-message" between two parties
Terry Goodkind did something similar in the Sword of Truth series in the second novel, Stone of Tears. It wasn't ICQ, of course. Heh.

I'm not as put of by the babytalk as some people here. I think the author needs to think slightly more about where to apply it (it works on goblin, but it's just odd on spider), but since it's only applied to the names of world elements, It's not going to faze me.

I love the terms croakamancer and findamancer. It pillories the RPG tendency to make magical specializations by adding -mancy to the end of a word.

The art is fairly well-drawn for the first page of a new webcomic, and the fact that it resembles Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker earns it bonus points in my book.

I like the mythology so far. Elvises and Arkentools are original without being horribly lame. The fact that the arkenhammer is a computer-generated 3d image is a nice touch.

Key lime pie is awesome.

The IM book is fine. The fact that it quacks when Stanley sends a message is awesome.

This is worth a continued read, especially since I'll be going to the site for OotS anyways.

I find that this one has potential. The art is... unique, the humor somewhat cynical. I like it so far, just gotta see if it's a keeper.

The art looks nice on the whole, but the huge heads were downright distracting. I think I understood what was going on, unlike a few others, but so far I haven't been given any reason to care about any of these characters - quite the opposite, in fact. And there's only been one good joke in the six strips that are up so far.

And chalk me up as another one who finds the deliberate language misuse / new coinages pretty juvenile.

I vaguely got the feeling that I would appreciate it more if I knew more about MMORPGs; does that seem true to anyone else, or am I completely off-track here?

Also, what was quacking on the first page?

The only quacking that I recall is the tablet. I think the reader is supposed to assume that the tablet quacks every time the lord (guy with weird hammer who loves pigeons) wants to speak with his spellcaster chic. (I refuse to invoke the "-mancer" word the author uses).

But I could be wrong. I think I understood most of the strip, but it really left me looking like this: ------>

The art style fits the humor.

Having just re-read it, I have to agree. Both are bad.

I actually like[/i] anime style art. This stuff is just... not that good. The art is better than the jokes, though. I didn't laugh once on re-reading, and I just don't like the one potential protagonist (the spellcaster chick).

My OotS link is moving one level deeper into Rich's website. Oh well.

I think the art is reasonably good, but the writing really irritates me so far.
Maybe it'll take a few more strips to get into it. Croakamancer... Findamancer... Just seems silly in a not at all funny way.

I'm very disappointed because I LOVE the writer's work at http://www.partiallyclips.com.
Those are damn funny comics. But these ... hmm...
