Escaping from a Drow prison

First off....

*No reading this post Alex!!!!*

Sorry, I've got a player in my group who lurks on Enworld. My apologies to all the other Alexes out there. :p

The players in our current campaign were trying to inflitrate a Drow city and were captured. so, right now I've gotta prep the escape for next session. Not sure if they're gonna end up in a dungeon for a few months or I'll let them have a chance to escape on the way to the prison. There is no hurry and it could be a few minutes in captivity or years.

Give me your interesting ideas....where should I pick up the action?

Prison escapes are fun, so if it were me I would bring them into the prison and lock em up - let the action occur from there. There would be a lot of opportunities for skill challenges intermixed with combat as well (I guess I am assuming you are playing 4e, but either way the prison escape is fun).

What's the make-up of the group?

I had a very similar situation once (Players were held prisoner in a Drow outpost). I would let them come up with ome ideas. Try the "Say yes" policy. Make their ideas work, or they feel they have no chance, anyway.
I used Bugbears instead of Drow as prison guards. Fooling drow easily can kind of ruin them.
Device an emergency event, if they get out of their cells but are unable to get out of the prison alive (without equipment, that can be hard). I had the Kuo-Toa attack the outpost during the prison break. You could use a drow house or a drow underground organisation trying to get some of their own ranks, held prisoner.

we are talking about a drow prison right one of the most malicous people in dnd do not shy away from their cruel and evil nature their prison most likely is most likely a storage place for sacrifies of lotlh prehaps if they do not escape they will be scarified

Playing 4e. I'm thinking of picking up the action from the prison as it is fun. Party is made up of Ranger, Rogue, Paladin, Warlord. We had a wizard but the player just moved away, so we may have a new person joining us. Rumour has it the new character is a warlock.

I'm very big on the "say yes" policy, however I like to have different options to present to the Players. If they come up with an option I havn't thought of...great, lets run with it.

Yeah I'm thinking we'll pick up the action as they have had a really rough week in the dungeon
