Euiptment for an Ogre Mage with class levels

I am making an Ogre Mage with class levels (4 hexblade if your interested) making it a CR 12. Ogre Mages say they have double standard treasure.

Should I give it twice the amount of a CR 12 treasure?

or the treasure of a 16th level NPC (9HD + an ECL of 7) (77,000 gp)?

or twice the treasure of a 16th level NPC (154,000)?

The treasure guidelines in the MM are just averages. For npc's, I always assign treasure based on what a particular npc would have and what I want the party to get if they defeat it.

That said, one item I used on an OM with class levels that worked great was a hat of disguise. It allowed the OM to pretend to be a fire giant, which confused the party to no end.

A similar encounter was in the old Book of Lairs. I used and it worked great.

Here's how I've dealt with this very question IMC:

He's gonna be half monster and half NPC I guess, so why not go both ways? Give him the standard worth of gear for an NP of his ECL and a standard worth of "treasure" for his CR?

The gear would be stuff he actually has practical uses for; weaponry, a resistance item, maybe a stat-increase item... Whatever you think fits his needs and your campaign.

The treasure would be "souvenirs" and trophies from defeated foes. Roll up a random treasure suitable for his CR or handpick items that suits the campaign.
