The actor who plays Fargo, whose real name is Neil, is quite cool. I hung out with him for a decent amount of time. He is a comic book collector (or was, but has not had much time for it the last year or so). He's from a town in Canada not that far from the town my wife is from, so they chatted about Canada for a while. He struck me as someone any of us would feel comfortable hanging out with. Very personable.

If you haven't already, check out Wonderfalls, by Tim Minear. Great show in it's own right, and Fargo/Neil has a bit of a role in it, though not as large as that in Eureka.

I liked the fact that his IQ was average. If you notice it is usually Carter who comes up with what is wrong and with the help of the smart folk solves the problem.

Henry said it would take drilling to get the piece that hit his car it was Carter who figured out how to do it without drilling.

Like a chimp peeling the leaves off a stick to get at the termites. Yum.

I've found that the standard IQ test grades both your intelligence and your wisdom (in D&D terms) but presents them to you as an average. Its very possible for Carter to have an Average intelligence and an above average or "high" wisdom. It seems likely as he solves most of his problems using common sense. That is why I like him so much. :)

Just because someone has a high IQ does not mean that they can function easily in society. Look at Einstein and his inability to do simple things because his mind was elsewhere.

I like how Carter is supposed to represent the average Joe , the fish out of water. He holds his own with the high IQ folk.

I love some of his comments like "its a ray that kills so why not call it a death ray"

I do think in this epsiode they went a little to far with the humor over Carter not knowing how an IQ test is measured that gave me pause.

Personally I am not impressed with the whole iQ mensa BS. Piaget wheh he developed the first IQ test used as a measure to find out how well a child learns to spot any diffculties. Its been turned into a kind of must have menality. Parents get bent out of shape if there children test average its like they failed somehow. In the long run a high IQ is only worth what you choose to do with it. There are planty of high IQ people delivering pizza and living in there parents basements because they could not make it in the real world.

Sorry rant over. :)

Did you notice Henry struggling in one scene to avoid initial techno-babble and describe something in Jack terms? That was a nice touch.

I did and it was a nice touch. I always enjoyed the interaction between Henry and Jack and I am looking forward to where they are going with Henry.
