I think mainly it was done because of the rarity of the magical variety...

while it's not hard to implement, it's rare that you'd see a +3 Keen Cutlass in a Forest dungeon, when it's a sea-faring weapon (convinent considering the background i'm making). it's more a factor i believe of simply, not many on land, in faerun at least

kind of like saber, as an extra 1lb, doesn't make up in a way for +2 extra damage off horse back...what paladin, WOULD'nT take it then....a paladin who knows it's easier to find holy longswords than sabers...

Drizzt's stats are incomplete

The FRCS stats for Drizzt are most likely a 3e conversion of the earlier AD&D2e stats and don't include his most recent adventures.

In Siege of Darkness (1994) and later books, Drizzt has several magic items that are not listed in his stats. Some of the magic items include: Bracers of the Blinding Strike (usually worn on his ankles to provide Boots of Speed/Striding capabilities), a hat of disguise-type item, sometimes he has Regis' ruby gem, and other items.

Also, in Siege of Darkness, its revealed that the scimitar he took from Icingdeath's hoard is a bane weapon against Demons. So it should be a +3 Frost Bane vs. Demons Scimitar, and the bane property isn't mentioned in his stats.

Likewise, Artemis Enteri doesn't have his most recent items either.

So, I have no problem with both of them being epic level fighters, since the FRCS authors ignored the last ten or so years of their adventures (I really think the stats date back to Legacy).

What happened to Artemis? (I actually care what happens to him.)

The last book where I saw him, he had Charon's Claw, his Dagger of Wrathful Healing, and really, that's about it.

In Realms of Shadow, there is a short story about Artemis and Jarlaxle, where Artemis fights a Shade, who wants his sword back (Charon's Claw). Artemis kills the shade (with his dagger I think) and suddenly appears more "shady" than before. Seems the most notorious of assassins is now a shade himself.

I have nothing to contribute here except that I think "Twinkle" and "Icingdeath" are really stupid names for weapons.

Icingdeath sounds like a magic cake knife, and we won't go into the psychology of someone who names his sword "Twinkle".

LOL:D

His glove acts as a Ring of Spell Turning, only it's continuous and doesn't require a command word ;) It absorbs the spell, rather than reflecting it, IIRC.

It even works against psionics (unlike Morrik's anti-magic orb).

It can be used to tell if someone cast a spell on you (eg the halfling), which is odd, since it should protect you from the spell in the first place.
