True, but, and this is from someone whom works on online databases, when you have 100 to 1,000 people all trying to pull, manipulate and handle data in an database that is stored on even the best server, its just an amazing task. I'm not giving them excuses (i'm freakin pissed offf at this 5 to 7 bullcrap i think it should have been anounced ahead of time...) but i understand the limits of technology. I can't name any online database that is built to handle 100 to 1,000 manipulations of the databae within an hour that deals with currency and an accurate database. Even amazon.com will occasionally sell more than they have intheir inventory. (and they have the most sophicasted online datbase system on the net).

Plus this is an every year thing. My issue is that i wish they were more honest and orgainzed with this crap. HOnestly, I'd even consider putting different days on different servers to relieve some of the load. There are logistic things they could do to at least handle the problem

I definitely think this needs to be personal. One man is responsible for how GenCon functions, and every year the con itself functions well with one HUGE glaring exception: registration. Now, I'm not talking about name-calling. I'm talking about taking personal responsibility when something so important repeatedly fails to function as it should.

I run a business. If it does not perform as it should, I take the heat. It's as simple as that.

As it is, I finally got through to the database after 6 hours of trying...half of the events I wanted are sold out. I very sincerely doubt if I'll bother to take the days off from work to attend the con at this point.

I run a business too, and no matter how much i'd like things to be perfect sometimes, you implement technology that doesnt exist

Absolutely so. I am not venting at a poor clerk, gatekeeper, or peon. Furthermore, I am following the time tested and true American method of 3 strikes. Aka: Fool me once (2003,) shame on you. Fool me twice (2004,) shame on me. Fool me thrice (2005,) all bets are off and it's now personal!

It's the New York way.

Hear, hear. Representing! ;)

There already is another thread on the same topic; Senseless polls are not allowed; Contains profanity.

I can't see much good coming of this. Go to the other thread and make your point in a more civil manner, please.
