Everquest bashing

Watch PBS. I don't know what else to say. I know you probably wouldn't have seeen that story on a PBS news show.

Probably. I would love to see no commercials during News so there is less desire to boost ratings.

Unfortunately, without commercials, they wouldn't bother doing the news.

A partial solution for me is newspapers. They tend to be somewhat less biased and slanted, if only because there's less money being thrown at them.

When you find a factual, by-the-book reporter on NPR, you're almost golden, but I've found that NPR is usually politically slanted. As is PBS. PBS would report that Dick Cheney was a Martian invader if they thought it would somehow increase the National Endowment for the Arts.

Ya, I rarely watch news on TV anymore. I get most of my news from the internet. AOL has a nice news section, can even look up news by region or country. Find out a lot of stuff that is not found newsworthy by the networks.

Still, if ever a game deserved to be bashed, it's EverQuest. I'd rather have dental surgury performed with a bandsaw.

To the people that are addicted to it, they're likely the bean counters and micromanagers I don't get along with in real life, I don't need it in my fantasy life thankyouverymuch. Gimme a nice surreal game of Unreal Tournament 2003 and excercise my demons.

and the funny thing is the kid killing himself story is a -year- -old-. It's not fresh off the presses news. The original story circulated the various EQ Boards shortly after the event itself happened.

Slow news week? Druge up a small story and make some gamers bleed. That should get some viewers.

Everquest seems to be in the news a lot lately, why just yesterday I was reading an article about how the FDA has approved Everquest as a form of birth control.

I don't know.. EQ bashing just sits wrong with me. Fantasy gamers,.. bashing other fantasy gamers and feeling smug and superior just because the medium is different? Oh heck no. Do you make cracks about GURPS players all being fat girlfriendless loosers that live in basements, too?

It's no different than the Cola Wars. We seek to defend our purchasing and affiliation decisions because we attach way too much of our self-identity to outside parameters.
