I bought the everquest rpg the other week, and in it instead of getting feats and attribute bonuses every x levels, instead you get 5 training points every level.
Training points can be used to increase your class skills on a one for one basis, incrrease cross class at a one for .5 basis, and increase an attribute or give you a feat for 7 points.(they had an attribute bonus cap, and max feats were = to one every other level)
Math wise you get more this way, for example normally you get 6 feats and 5 attribute bonuses over the 30 levels or 77 points worth, at 5 per you get 100 points, leaving some points over.
Still i really like the system, and am thinking of porting it over to D&D if I don't run everquest next. I can see how it might diminish the importance of bonus feats in classes, so I might have to balance it a bit. But I like the added flexibility, it helps players design the characters they want easier than the current system.
Anyone have any ideas on the pros/cons, am I a crazy crack fiend for even considering this etc? And suggestions on modificaitons to the system?
