Every time I see IMO or IMHO, I will drown one of these kittens

IMO you are simply looking for a way to justify the harming of cute kittens. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

And rather than crying out about the people who use IMO or IMHO, why not cry out about people who apparently have difficulty understanding the implied IMO. I have seen enough instances where somebody jumps on a post that is someone else's opinion as if they were stating it was a fact, that I have come to use it in situations where missing that implication is likely to lead to a flame post.

You're so right, Thornir! Some fourteen year old will post something along the lines of "You know, 3.5 is an improvement on previous editionms!" and there will be, like, seven hundred vultures waiting in the wings with a million hyperlinked "Glory Days" threads and bile saved up since the d20 switch to unleash on the unsuspecting youngster, who most likely is consumed in a ball of fiery hate.
Yeah, those guys suck.

I dunno, I've been chastized for my "difficulty understanding the implied IMO" in posts with phrases like "the only rational decision is" and "you are simply wrong". I have chosen not to do the work for posters who can't say "In my game" instead of "In D&D", "I like" instead of "It's better", or for that matter, "imo, it is" instead of "It is".

(the quoted beer barrel may in fact be a master of the English language who masterfully expresses those things he believes to be facts vs those he holds subjectively, but for most people it's easier to write clearly than teach the world how you imply things. (but harder than blaming the reader for any failure of your message to get across)).

Various people have nailed it - the difference between subjective and objective is not so cut and dry. This is especially true online, where you lose body language, a strong but subtle indicator of meaning. There are also several instances where the sub/obj barrier is intentionally broken - humor and trolling are two big ones. One that I see here a fair bit is stating preference as fact, so as to imply their own views are the only right ones. There are also people who will see opinion and take it as fact, and launch into rebuttal. So, however much you may not like it, the internet culture (as most do) has devised a way to specifically delineate a subjective statement - IMO and IMHO.

For the record, I don't like IMHO - the "humble" is really a way of saying "I think this but I'm better than you because I'm being humble." IMO is fine, because the context of knowing when someone is being snotty or just stating opinion is largely lost online.

IMO, you should havea just went ahead and drowned the kittens. Without having used the pretext of only by everyone else not using several peronally abhored abbreviations, is the only way the said kittens lives can be spared.
I imagine said kittens have all been drowned by now. You didn't perchance make an audio-video recording of said drownings of said kittens? If you did, how about posting a link for the rest of us to enjoy  .
Anyway, I don't believe in kittens, no such thing exists.

Just for the record, I love kitties...but I'm not bowing down to the threat of thread terrorism.

IMHO, if kitties have to die to protect freedom of speech, so be it!
