Evil PC's

I run currently an evil-PCs campaign in Forgotten Realms... 6 players, level 4-5.

Yeah there is some meta-game thinking to make the group stay together and the like...

For example, when the rogue fey'ri got killed by a fireball trap, one of them decided to get her raised, even if he could have just make her corpse no where to be found. (They were in Waterdeep!)

Some times, the human(male) LE monk (monk of the long death order) and the drow(female) CE wizard (from Cormanthor's drow) get really mad agaisn't each other.. I fear that one day, they will kill the group...

Here's an outline of the group dynamic of my EVIL party. The main thing that holds the group together is that the cleric, the death knights, the weretiger, and the ghost HATE the church of Tyr. The kobold and human heard of the group and decided to join for mutual protection. The kobold just to gain power, and the human because she's on the run from an organized crime family. Currently they are working with a hobgoblin kingdom to destabilize and hopefully destroy an adjacent human nation to establish a safe area on the island they are on.
I did have to put in a metagame order "Thou shalt not backstab party members", but I encourage players to work it into their character concepts instead of making characters that end up not needing the party and making off with the magic items in the night or something.

I don't really consider that to be a problem with evil parties really, I've seen it in good parties as well. [rant] The real problem is players who make antisocial characters and then when they do innapropriate things thay hide behind, "It's what my character would do". Yea well you are the one who made the character concept, so it was your decision to make a character that would do such a thing. [/rant]

We have an evil character in our three man group. I personally find him extremely disruptive. He's a conniving, backstabbing arrogant coward and more than once I was inches away from ending his evil forever. I foresee he will come to a bad end.

However, I find that a properly played evil character is no problem. Hell, they can even be the most popular guy in the group, because he's someone who can get things done without whining about it. But playing someone who makes clear that no one else the world means anything to them and who plans to use the party until they die, well, that's just being annoying.
 

IMHO, keeping an evil party together is not really any harder than a good party. They are both motivated by the same things, wealth and a desire to do great deeds and see the party as a way of best obtaining both. You occationally run into a RP situation where the party comes to a head and the difference is that people will probably die more often than in good parties. Usually it's the party versus one guy. if the party wins then the player simply makes up a new character that better fits with the party or the one character wins and then you should have all the other players make new characters to come along and kill that character and take all his stuff to show that he can't get along in the world without a party behind him.
 

I tend to stay away from Evil characters as a personal preference but I've played them on occasion. They can certainly be fun if things are done right and you don't disrupt everything. Evil can mean lots of different things, and depending on your interpretation of alignment in D&D, can be very creatively portrayed in new ways.
