Int is not IQ/10 ... The fact is that the bell curve of Int does not and cannot map onto the bell curve of IQ. Int 7 is probably far better equated to around an IQ in the low 80s or perhaps high 70s. But Int is emphatically not simply IQ/10.

Agreed. But is there anything to say for expediency? While INTx10=/=IQ, it is a very quick and dirty, and more or less accurate, way to approximate the mental capacity of a PC (or NPC). Besides, Arrivis is asking for some RP advice, and an easy way to set up some guidelines is to do INTx10. Guidelines which, unless you work in statistics, are complicated to derrive using the IQ bell curve.

Is INTx10 accurate? I think it is accurate enough for our purposes.

That being said, I'll support the idea of a patient, unlearned, can't memorize too much, can't solve logic problems, thinking by the gut PC. His gut instincts (or his heart, if you will) will direct him to the proper path in life. I agree that both Forrest and Sam are good examples for you.

I'd also like to throw in my 2 cents. A low-intelligence, high wisdom person would be very perceptive, but might have trouble with things that aren't immediately in front of him. To put it another way, he isn't very strongly aware of things' continued existence when he can't see them anymore. If someone covers his eyes, he may not know that it's dark because his eyes are covered, he may think it's nighttime.

For example, he is in one room of a house with an angry man. After a conversation, he learns that the man is very angry because of his wife. The character decides to help the man, because being angry is bad. He then walks into the next room of the house, and sees a woman crying. He has no idea who she is, and probably won't draw the conclusion that she is the wife of the angry man unless told explicitly. At this point, he might sympathize with the upset wife and forget about the angry husband.

Yeah, it ends up being a little cheesy and comic sometimes, but that's more because we laugh at stupidity (I do anyway) and accurately depicting it is funny.
