Exalted 2nd edition is going to suck!

I mean seriously, I've got hundreds of dollars invested in it. This doesnt' count the time I've spent in the setting making up my own stuff or the miniatures I've painted or things I've converted from other systems.

Doesn't White Wolf know how badly they are screwing their long term customer here? I mean are they going to give us a massive discount if we sent in the original book?

And what about supplements? I mean bad enough they force us to buy all these damn supplements already with the information scattered to a dozen or more books but damn, now I have to buy them all again?

And the artwork better not change either. I don't want to see any changes to the classic Exalted look. I want new art, it just better not be different art. Let's keep with the genre and all that.

What next? A trilogy of books that changes the setting as soon as the core book hits the stores? Yeah, great work White Wolf!

Figured I'd get people started.

Or wait, do these types of threads only apply to D&D and the "4th" edition everyone keeps talking about?

Me? I'm actually looking forward to a 2nd edition. I probalby won't play it as much as I'd like, but I don't do that now with first edition, despite owning a hefty amount of books and yes, miniatures.

Actually, if you just use dots in exalted stats as bonuses, and roll 1d20 + attribute + skill + specialties, the game seems a lot easier to manage than if you use dice pools. Sometimes I use 2d6 or 2d10, though, so it's not completely d20, it's more tri-stat at that point.

:)

Here's the reasoning I did with Planescape and 3E. The fact that the original material was in a different system didn't bother me much, nor did it make my manuals worthless. Planescape manuals are extremely light on the rules anyway. Their value is in the setting info and background.

So keep playing Storyteller Exalted, or convert the manuals you have to the new version. Either way, in an edition change, only the rules-heavy stuff really drops in value.

This complaint has come up with both Vampire and Mage, and similar complaints have arisin every time a new edition comes out. Cripes, people are already complaining about 4E and they havn't even announced it yet.

I don't think Exalted 2E is going to be a big deal. Most of the Exalted supplements are so rules light that it would be very easy to keep using them (unless White Wolf suddenly decides to go D20).

Me? I'm looking forward to being able to start from scratch with a WW product I really enjoy playing. Maybe this time I'll be able to keep up with all of the books.

Don't kid yourself, they can pump out books down in Atlanta. I'm still trying to catch up on the old Exalted books, luckily many of them are nicely cheap these days.

I really like Exalted, but i havent bought a book since the Sidereals came out, though i want the Players guide, Fairfolk and the Alchemicals, but since ive only gotten to play once since it came out i didnt think it was worth putting anymore money into. Same goes for the New WOD, I have so many OWOD books the new ones arent worth the money for how often i get to play (that and the rule changes stink), whereas i get to play D&D every week.

I like that you posted this in both fora. Maximum impact for minimum typing. Efficiency r0xx0rz.

Well, they didn't seem to get it over at RPG.net since the "outrage" over 4th ed is mainly limited to here and as noted the concerns over Exalted are pretty minimal with people actually (gasp!) excited about it.
