Exalted Champloo - Episode 1 - "Intolerance"

"We kind of need to hear what she has to say, why needless antangonize her? She could sneak away by herself, most likely."

"I am not intend on antagonizing her. I like her, she is young, she is brash. I am only curious how good she truly is," Snow shrugs, "But if it will put your mind at ease, I will go wait for her outside," she gracefully slips out of the room. Outside she carries herself as true Dynast, though probably not a very powerful one as she keeps an eye out for Temari.

Temari searches calmly but swiftly for the well, troubled by being the one in specific that the realm troops were seaching for. She didn't have much trouble finding it, and it was marked just as disciple had told her it would be. Secure in the knowledge of the escape route, the raven-haired girl heads back to look for the group back where she had left them, and quickly sees Snow and makes her way over to her.

"I have found out who they are searching for...the others are inside, yes?" she asks indicating the door by which the Dynast girl was standing, and entered through it without saying another word. Inside she oriented herself on the flow of traffic out of the kitchen and managed to find her way to the table without any real problems. When Snow arrives and takes her seat, or chooses not to take her seat, the Silent Wind begins to relate the problem.

"They are searching for Alamar and Myself, they know what we are, and they actually reffered to me as the Wretched. I am not quite sure how they would know it though, It has been no more then a week since it happened, and the only survivng people that know are my mother and sisters. Unless you believe that the Swan Maiden's followers would have told, then again, they would have told them that there were 5 and not 2. So it has to have been someone from before we came here, either my family informed, or they were forced to. I have to know." she tells the circle determinedly.

"Disciple told me of another route out of the city that was not guarded, though we might need to face the dead to escape along it, they are not actively hunting for Exalts though. I know that I can get out of the city without issue, but I do not believe that Alamar would be able to do so."

"I can't imagine how they would be seeking just the two of you unless it is related to your activities before we came together." Swallow purses her lips in thought. "The important thing right now is to get out of the city. If there is a discrete method, we should take advantage of it."

He frowned, "The two of us? Huh ... I can see then pegging me. I mean, ten years since I Exalted. But to peg the two of us together? Something tells me that there were either those who escaped during Temari's Exaltation, or that someone has very crafty eyes."

He chuckled at the comment about the Wretched,
"Ah, the Immaculate Texts have many names for our kind. Each sign has its own title if you will. Though whether its in the Texts itself, or derived from them, I cannot say. I've never had the opportunity since my own Exaltation to read through them."

He paused, "The dead, huh? Well ... about time I boned up on my study of them. Been a number of years since I've conversed with the dead. Unless you mean the brain dead, in which case, I converse with them daily, much to my dismay."

"Funny," Temari retorts to Alamar casting scorn upon his brain-dead comment. "No, I am quite positive that none survived when it happened, I made sure." the girl says steadly making it quite clear that she had made pincushions of those who had witnessed it. It was possible that she may have missed one but it was an incredibly slim chance, none of them would have had the level of skill possessed by Disciple.

"Disciple marked a well for our use, we go down the well in Beggar's March and follow the Low Road. He warned that it passes close to a shadowland, but I believe he truly wants to help me...I believe Alamar is just an after thought."

"Someone could have also sold some of us out. This Disciple character has only met the two of you, even if he was spying on all of us. Maybe he could only give them good descriptions of you. Either the path near the shadowland is a trap itself, or he so generously provides a way out of the predicacment he himself created to create some gratitude. Of course, both of those plots are pretty basic. That drunk guy was trying to test us, maybe he wanted to see how we deal with this problem." Romen says casually.

"It could also have something to do with your inn. That's another bit of common ground."

He chuckled at the comment about the Wretched,

"Yeah, there's like 5 different names. I don't remember where they're from exactly. Forsaken, warriors that got hung out to dry by their demon patrons and allies. And then there's Wretched, who were hideous spies and killers. Deceivers like me were really good liars. And, umm the wicked sorcerers, the Unclean. Let's see, hmm.... I can't remember the last one."

"This knowledge of shadowland stuff makes me more suspicious of the so called Disciple. What if he's a deathknight? Maybe you should both explain your conversations in more detail."

He gave an accounting quickly, explaining that Disciple made it clear that he chose to be spotted, nothing more.

"The man seems capable of walking within the shadows. He asked me a number of questions, curious about my relationship with Temari. I answered him honestly, as there was no harm in it. He asked about our goals, and I was careful about my answers. Only saying that I am in town for awhile, nothing more, nothing less. He spoke of what brought us together, seemingly finding something amusing about the fact that we dont even seem to know our own destiny."

He scowled a bit, "Of course, I returned the favor. Do any of us truly know our destiny?" He shrugged the rhetorical question off.

"Anyway, it seemed obvious that while not a direct threat, neither would I call him a direct ally. He's got his own angle to play, which I'm quite sure will bring us both knowledge, and trouble." He seemed pleased by the issue of knowledge, and not too concerned about the trouble. "I do suspect that for now, his angle rests in keeping us alive, if not safe. That and an active Wyld Hunt in the city would be detrimental for his plans."

He paused, "In short, he's a man with his own game to play. He is to trusted about as much as anyone who hasnt proven the truth of their soul. Which means, we judge him by his actions, which while annoying, have so far been useful for us."

"He wanted to know if I kept Alamar as a lover." Temari told the group smirking at the visibly much older exalt. "I believe he wants that honor for himself, and that he truly wants to help me and that rest of you are only of secondary importance to him, though we may all figure somewhere in his plans, his intentions for me are much more personal. He offered to each me more some very useful charms that I asked him about if we make it back once the Dragon Bloods leave."

"I think that we need to decide on a course of action soon. Either Alamar and I trying to sneak out, fighting our way out, or taking the Low Road out. I do not think we can afford to stay put."

He raised an eyebrow, "Lover? Me? That's quite amusing. But I assure you, Temari, I never mix business dealings with pleasure. Having to leave a town with little more than undergarments mid winter taught me that lesson long long ago. As to only being interested in you ... I'm not so sure about that. He knows about all of us, and seems interested in us, but I think he's choosing to focus on you, the youngest, for his plans. The fact he offered to teach you, that says he's got plans for you. It concerns me. I may be an old fart, but I'm not too old, far from it." He shrugs it off quickly, "No matter, I say we take the chance at dealing with the Shadowland if we must."
