Exalted Champloo - Episode 1 - "Intolerance"

Shalimar said:
"Are we ready to procede?"

He chuckled, raising an eyebrow toward her, "I know very well what you meant, Tem. However, business before pleasure, and we've got far too much business ahead of us. More the shame, as my life has been far too monastic the past few months."

He smiled, focusing on the area, "It's a shame I don't have the time to study the area, the Shadowlands are a fascinating topic, if a dangerous one. About as dangerous as discussing heresies with a Dragon-Blooded."

The way he says that, its almost like he's done just that before.

Snow laughed mirthfully at Temari's flirting, "If your story earlier is true..." she trails of wondering, "Anyway business can be quite pleasurable if you allow it to be, I hate boring business."

"Hmm, yes" Snow frowns when Alamar tells them they are in a Shadowland, "A large part of the city is, hence the salt lines everywhere...Don't worry lighting the way won't drain me, even here," she says patting the gem holding the sash around her waist together, "I'm ready when you are," she unsheaths Ivory Rain, quite certain she'll need it sooner rather than later.

Swallow nods as she listens to others talk, her mind still troubled by the presence of hunters stalking them. Someone had clued them in, perhaps there was a plan in play that they only saw part of?

She had used catspaws for distraction in the past, were they that to this person? Or was she over analysing the situation at hand.

There is only one way to go, forward. The path descends deeper into the under city, there is silence here punctuated by footsteps, breathing and the, and the sounds of weapons at the ready. The mercenaries show no fear in their walk, but their eyes belie a fear that permeates the darkness… the feeling that death is only an inch away.

The pathway continues another hundred feet or so before it opens into a large cavernous opening that opens into darkness and ruins of what lay before.

Temari

[sblock]The ruins before you are silent, but you can pick out shapes moving in the ruins, in the darkness and shadows of the light. But her eyes focus on a small figure a child, a slip of a child trying her best to stay hidden behind the ruins of a fence… she has not seen you.[/sblock]

Temari moves through the shadow world with the fluid motion of a stalking tiger, ranging between 15 and 20 feet ahead of the others. She could sensse shapes moving just outside of her visual range, it was worrying to the huntress, causing her to drop back to the group but still keep her eyes ahead. "There are things out in the shadows out there, be ready for anything." she calls out softly before noticing a slip of a girl trying to hide behind a fence.

Approaching the girl's hiding place slowly, Temari calls to the girl softly. "Hello little one, we wont hurt you, you can come out, we'll keep you safe."

The child peeks out, the girl is thin from hunger wearing a dirty slip, barefoot. She has wyld touched features… a black cat-like tail and a black cat-like ears sticking out of a dirty brown mess of hair. Her face is smudged and she looks timid… and does not approach but does not run either.

He whistles softly, "One of the Wyld touched? Fascinating."

He barely resists the urge to move forward and study the girl, finding it difficult to do so. The scholar in him truly desired to understand just what kind of changes had transpired in her and just how she'd survived being affected by the Wyld.

He moved slowly, trying to find some food in his rucksack, while scanning the surroundings, hoping that she was a lone child, and not part of a pack or something.

OOC: Searching the surroundings discretely, looking for anything else in there that's moving that's more than just a rat or the like.

"I promise we wont hurt you little one, you can come out, we will protect you." The huntress tells the slip of the wyld-touched catgirl. Reaching into her belt pouch she brings out a strip of dried meat and offers it to her. "Are you hungry?" she asks, standing a step away from the girl's hiding spot so that she'd have to step out from her cover.

"My name is Temari, that is Snow, and she's Swallow. How about your name?" the raven haired teen exalt said, introducing each of the female Exalts to try and calm the young girl.

The girl recoils from Two Stone, and scrabbles back just as voices filter out from the ruins. Hushed nonsensical whispers that seem to repeat the same verse…

“Blood is the only sacrifice, blood is the life… come into the dark, out of the light…”

The words are repeated sometimes just a few words, sometimes the whole verse, a cacophony of sounds as the young Wyld-touched girl continues to back away and then something reaches out of the darkness and snatches her up…

"Wonderful Alamar, are you certain your charm wasn't overexagerated just a bit?" Temari asks rolling her eyes at the elder exalt. "Don't mind him...we just keep him around because he tells good stories." she tells the little cat girl as the child backs away from Alamar.

“Blood is the only sacrifice, blood is the life… come into the dark, out of the light…”

As the sound of the unsettling whispers makes their way to the group, Temari squints into the darkness, trying to see the creatures that were making the unsettling sound. "Don't, don't move any farther away, it is dangeruous down here in the dark..." she tries to warn the girl before something happens...unfortunately the warning came too late.

"Little sister!" the exalt cried out as the girl was snatched into the darkness, the Night Caste exploded into action almost immediately. A glowing circle of light blazed forth on her forehead, mimicing Dancing Snow's Earlier action. As she moved towards the girl, her right hand flashed forward to her waist bringing out her sword as she strained to identify her foe.

Not sure if spending the mote of essence to light her caste mark counts as an action, if it does she'll flurry to draw her short sword, if it doesn't she'll flurry to draw her short sword and attack.
