Excerpt from Monte Cook's World of Darkness in Game Trade Magazine

Interesting - he basically included three "racial HD" in the first level... - a bit of a throwback to AE's three racial levels?
Or he's been talking to the SWSE designers!
Either there was some collaborative design going on there, or else two really good design teams hit on the same solution to the "first level vulnerability" problem at the same time.

Looking at the previews this looks interesting.

Looks like you could have a party of vampire + werewolf + demon + mage + awakened without infighting, just occasional verbal pickering a la elf vs. dwarf.

Saving the Awakened kinda reminds me of that old videogames Robotron (save the people from the Robots!) or Defender. Those were fun, though ultimately, of course, one failed. :)

I wonder if McWod could be easily translated to medieval times (have the apocalypse happen 1000 years earlier) and go from there?

Basically the campaign is set in a post-apocalyptic Minneapolis (very localized - the rest of the world seems fine). The Apocalypse was a interdimensional event.

Wooh! Minneapolis!

I'll buy it just because it's where I live and there ain't enough representin' mah city!

I don't have a problem with that writing style; it's ad copy to give you a taste of the book.

The problem there is, ad copy is supposed to attract customers. Excusing bad writing by saying "Well, it's just ad copy"--and yes, some of those previews are pretty poorly written--is counterproductive for both the company and the consumer.

Thank god! Now I can finally cater to the players that always wanted to RP in Minneapolis. Hoepfully, they'll come out with a Des Moines expansion soon.

I didn't think it was bad writing at all. It certainly attracted my interest to the work, especially after all this time of being totally in the dark about what it was going to be about.
