D&D 5E Excited about the new version so I preordered

Right there with You

I haven't played for 20 years (1E and 2E). I've looked at a few books from various editions, but didn't feel inspired to dig back in until now. Something about this edition made me want to pick up my old favorite hobby again. I pre-ordered the Starter Set, Tyranny of Dragons adventures, and the three rule books from Amazon.com. I also backed all three Necromancer Kickstarter books. It's funny, my playing group is comprised entirely of new and returning players. We're all really excited about playing through the Starter Set. We're planning to run through Hoard of the Dragon Queen after that.

I'm a new member to these forums. What a great community.

Cheers,

Jake

Preordered from amazon but decided later to switch to a local store I play Pathfinder society in to support a local buisness, even if it costs me 30% more.
My excitement has gone back and forth and I burned out earlier in the year after getting tired of WotC's silence, but I've since gotten back up on the horse.

I own a store so I preordered TONS of it! :D

I'm quite excited. There's some resistance from people who don't go online and know very little about it. "I'm going to stick to my existing game" is something I hear quite a bit of... but I can tell they're going to break!

Also, all the regulars (who actually buy new stuff) are into giving it a try.

My personal after-hours group is roaring to go.

I pre-ordered the lot from Amazon, cheap and cheap shipping. Can't go wrong apart from delays! I have no FLGS, in fact can't find it at any physical store in NZ, even the Wizard's stores are card games only and haven;t replied to my emails asking if they will stock 5E.

In a fit of excitement I ordered another copy of the Starter Set from an NZ online store, that ships from the US, to see if it will beat Amazon here. It has shipped a few days ago but nothing from Amazon so it's looking good. But the books cost so much more so probably just wait for Amazon for the rest and gift my other starter set to some kids.

I went a little crazy and pre-ordered the PHB alone. I've been out of the game since about 2010- been trying CoC and other indie games. I am starting to like what I've seen.

I have a FLGS but have to figure out where they moved to. I pre-ordered from Barnes and Nobles since my work schedule is hectic and long. Thinking about getting the started set to have some fun with it.

I have friends like this but two are considering it after i passed the basic rules to them. One is a 3E guy and the other a diehard 2E guy. Hopefully I will uget them to both to play or maybe I will start a online game.

While I am waiting for the books, is the starter set worth getting?
For me, it will be handy for teaching D&D to new players, and for teaching 5E to players who were not involved in playtesting. The adventure worthwhile, and the dice are nice. So, the starter set is worth getting, in my opinion.

Especially at Amazon's $12.65 USD Price Tag!

I also have the whole set preordered: the three core books, the Starter Set, and both Tyranny of Dragons adventures. If the Basic Rules PDF is any indication, this is going to be damn fantastic!
